ok, so, my question is, why do christens come door to door trying to convert everyone to their religion? Everyone in the united states has heard of jesus, and if they don't beleive, do you think waking them up at 7:00am on a saturday is really going to change their minds?

Never had a Christian show up on my doorstep. Only Jehova's Witnesses.

    Do they count as Christians?

Me neither (and yes, JWs are Christians). Maybe they come when no one's home, but I've never seen any, and neither have my parents.

Around my town we have Mormon missionaries. It is usally two guys dressed quite spiffily in suits and everything. The only weird thign is, they never go to anyones door, or if you pass them on the street, they may say "hello" but no conversions are ever attempted. Anyone know what these guys do or have seen similar things?

EDIT: Oh, and then there are the Gideon's people on campus. The just have tables set up in some buildings with signs saying "Free Scriptures", but they just sit there quietly and wait for peopel to talk to them. sometimes I feel so bad for them cause it looks so boring, but I have seen them talking with people a few times.

    Most Christians don't do that.

There's a Mormon church with a large congregation a quarter mile away or so from where we live. We were holding a weekend-long sale here after my wife's parents died and we took over the house; people who were obviously from the Mormon church came over that Sunday. The most notable memory I have about them is of very young men, early 20's at oldest, in pairs, dressed in black or charcoal suits, white shirts, and ties...as you say, quite spiffy, and conservative as well. They each had a printed plastic name badge with "Elder" under the name pinned to their suit coat. They were quiet, and seemed to be at our place only to look at the stuff for sale...if they said anything it was to ask about the price of an item. It struck me as strange that such young guys would be called elders.

Their church and school buildings are 30+ years old, very solidly built in a tasteful 1960's modern architectural style. Buildings are meticulously maintained and grounds are well-landscaped and manicured...all in all, a neighborhood showpiece.

They don't engage in any kind of evangelism in the local area that I know of.

Gideons...Bibles in hotel rooms and hospitals, all I know.

It's a fact. If I'd say most birds fly would you say you haven't seen all birds? If you want to have an intelligent debate let's do so. If not why post?

Well, i don't know where you guys live. Maybe all the christens just know our house is occupied by a bunch of filthy pagans. lol, i don't know. But i've had old people show up, asking us to read these magazines. And, i've had little girls come up, and sing about god, and then finish it with, if you don't beleive in jesus, you'll burn in hell. And i probly should have used another word besides christen in my thread starter. I know not every church does that. Just wondering if anyone could explain the reasoning of those who do?
