I'm a high school senior this year, currently looking into colleges. I've taken a couple photography courses at my high school, and am taking the last one this year. So far I've made it through with a point and shoot, though it's been very frustrating. It leaves no room for experimentation with aperature and exposure times, and also hinders the time of day I can shoot, as the flash affects the quality of the photograph. I don't feel I can go any further with my current camera, especially since I plan on majoring (or perhaps double-majoring in conjunction with something else) in photography in college. I'd like to purchase an SLR, but don't have a lot of cash. Does anyone know of any good models that are relatively inexpensive? Also, I'd like to expand my drawing skills, which are currently slim to nil. Are there perhaps any drawing exercises that could help me particularly in areas of proportion, and movement?
Hey there. When i went to college in 2002 i took AS level photography. I used a pentax MZ-7. Its a good SLR, if you want to be lazy it has all the automatic modes. But with a flick of the switch you control everything on the camera. I used to love using a long exposure time on a waterfall so you get a cool blur...I reccomend pentax or cannon...Try ebay for cheap ones...If you see a camera you like and your not too sure if its good enough then Email me...my dads in the Photography trade so he could help too
I've been snooping around on ebay, and I've found some pretty inexpensive secondhand cameras. Comparatively anyway. That's looking like the route I'll take. Thanks again.
