Here's a question that could pose some interesting answers... What -- to you -- is the most "normal" song? I'm not asking for a song you love, or hate... just what you think of as the most normal type of song. I'm talking about a song that has no gimmicks, no particular "style", and is not heavily influenced by fads or fashions. A song that is neither old-fashioned or modern sounding. Just a really regular, middle-of-the-road, run-of-the-mill, basic song that people will listen to and say "oh yeah, that's just a normal song". A song that will neither offend nor excite anyone to any great extent. I'm looking for the musical equivalent of a cheese and tomato pizza. Or jeans and a t-shirt. Or the missionary position. Just the most standard, default, plain, un-accessorised song. If you can't think of any particular song... how about a time period (ie when was music at its most "normal"?) Well?
LOL. Hmmm....well, lots of Blind Melon songs are "normal". Old 97s - "Beer Cans" is another. I must sound lame, but that's what floats to my mind right now.
I would say the first thing that comes to mind is probably the "right" answer. Not that there is any real "right" answer.
The first thing that comes to mind is "Maybe I'm Amazed". Then I saw "Beer Cans" and thought "Takin' Care of Business". I think you can get so normal that it's almost obscene.
i can think of many.... those Bruce Springsteen wannabes from the late 70s/80s, like Billy Squier, definitely agree with the obscene part... Boston, some Springsteen songs, Journey, i dont listen to that stuff apart from Springsteen so i dont know any other names... oo Dire Straits too, cant stand that crap, its so boring.... blue oyster cult. and then there's olivia newton john, much of elton john's catalogue, so much country music you can hear on the radio today...... so many more.
