read a book! Haven't you ever heard "religion is the opiate of the masses"? Of course everyone has thought this. God wasn't invented by the governments to keep citizens busy or in line, but most religions were.
^i agree. spirituality has been around long before government; shamanism is your basic (though very general) form of spirituality/religion. When civilization appeared, spirituality changed to fit the new lifestyle, one of toil, disconnection from the world of life, and of heirarchies. Religions generally fit the civilization like a glove, it's sort of a spiritual extension of it, and so the rulers extend their power fully over the people (often it was the priests who were in charge). Which is sad, because in this form it's so limiting; one must seek the mystical (aka, quasi-shaministic) path to find "true" spiritual connection.

Religion is basically a giant brainwashing scheme, i find it funny that our government is going to war with Islam, which is based off of Christianity and Judaism, they all agree on the same things. It just that since we war over oil, and because Israel is our allies, that they become radical suicide bombers. If we weren't at war with the middle east, I think Islam would have spread much faster. No, I don't think it was invented by government to keep us busy. But they certainly do use it for their own reasons.
Just because all 3 have their Abrahamic roots, it doesnt mean theyre not very different. Islam is not compatible with ANY other religion. The goal of Islam is to have the whole world muslim, or at least under Muslim control. That in itself means, so long as there are Islamists of this breed, that there will never be real peace between them and the West. But invading their homeland has certainly made things worse. Abrahamic religions are misogynistic, islam being the most flagrant in this area. This too is not compatible with modern western culture.
Well actually, non Islamists can exist in Islamic society, that has been covered. And the only reason it's so mysogynistic is because of Arab influence, its not actually a custom of Islam. The whole reason they cover up they're women is because the only job women had before was being a prositute, so that is where the shall comes in and the mysogany. Only in certain areas do you see extreme cases of mysogany, not that I agree with that, but that is not what it originally was. The only reason it can't work in the western world is because americans have become so ignorant and brainwashed by the American propoganda machine run by the jews. You think the middle east would be waring with us if we didnt put Israel back on the map in the 60's? Probably not, well maybe for oil, but that's about it. If Kennedy was never assasinated he probably would have drilled in Alaska and made treaties with Canada to drill for oil, and our dependancy on the Middle East would have disintegrated. But this is all fantasy because we're talking about the past, when actually in the present we have made a religion turn completely radical.
Non islamists can live in an islamist state, perhaps, but under Islamist religious code. That is not acceptable to me. Christianity and Islam stem from Judaism, which is a religion born out of an an extremely patriarchal society. In all 3 of these religions it is AT LEAST implicitly written into their holy texts that women are to be subjugated by men. That was part of their culture WAY before it was written into their religions. Jewish and Christian cultures are both extremely patriarchal and subsequently, misogynistic. In the west it has been watered down because we have a more progressive culture that makes the religion adapt to changing times. However, in the middle east, moderation and progressivism has not taken hold, because they are largely theocratic, and arent true democracies, if at all. The USA imports the majority of its oil from Canada.
Well even still, when someone reads the Quran, each person interprets it differently, and their understanding is what they should live by. Judaism itself is a flawed religion, after the Jews in Babylon mixed the teaching of Moses. The only true form of Judaism is the Coptic Ethiopians and maybe Hassidic, but still, they all worship the same God. All of it stems back to Egypt and Sumerian beliefs. All im saying is that the government has given an Islam a bad name, it can still work, but without the mysogany, seeing as how they all worship the same God, Enlil, whos names is translated into Yahweh, Allah, and Osiris. My point was America branded all people who follow Islam terrorists, which was the original topic. Yes, we do get oil from Canda, but how do you fuel a war machine that is slowly taking over the Middle East, probably going to go into Iran, and for all we know into North Korea....not with oil from Canada.
