It was like my mind had woken up but when I tried to move, the body wasn't responding. This was alarming and after some mental effort, I was able to wake myself up again, this time the body coming along. I think it was just a dream that I had awoke the first time
it's sleep paralysis - did you experience anything else? when i get it i see people at the end of the bed or coming through the window, or demonic presences swimming around me you just have to make yourself move and you'll get out of it (though it's really difficult sometimes)
this used to happen to me all the time when i was little. i think it's induced by the real stressess of young childhood, say ages 4 to about 7,8 or 9, that the dominant society tries to pretend, for whatever totaly inane reason, can't and don't possibly exist. always scarred the shit out of me. i'd wake, know i was awaike, see everything arround me just like it normaly is, be totaly paralized, not even be able to detect a heart beat or breathing, just totaly out of nowhere in the middle of a totaly peaceful sleep just absolute paralization, fallowed by panic at the realization of it. without any sort of a hint as to what had awaikened me or brought it about. once i learned how to make peace and friends with all the scarry stuff, and the costinada trick, i don't think he invented it, someone here recently just mentioned that he mentioned it, of looking at your hands, i've never suffered from this again. or haven't for ages and ages anyway. though i've noticed i sometimes have very brief odd little spasims some times, at very rare intervals, and suspect, maybe it is these, that may, at that age, have triggered this experience. you may actualy have something medical, or you may simple need to embrase and come to terms with your fears. it could be either, both, or something else entirely. one as likely as another. =^^= .../\...
i've heard of this! you're supposed to make an effort to move something small, like a finger, and you can shake yourself out of it.
I heard it was because negative entities are in there with you and they latch on to you and drain you of your energy, thats why you get real scared when it happens and feel drained and cant move. Shadow people or something. I have had it happen to me a few times since I've been a teen ager, and I've always heard shit in my room, like something growling in the corner or in my ear. Scary shit.
happens to me at least once a week since i was 14 or so. i'm used to it now. sometimes it last for like a minute strait though thats the worste. Just imagine feeling like ur fully awake, but not being able to move, u can open ur eyes a little and see around the room, u try to yell but ur voice is just a little wimper nobody can here, it's kinda hard to breath, and ur trying to push up on ur bed but ur muscles feel dead. then finally after so long of pushing, ur manage to move a finger or ur arm or leg and u jump out of it and wake up. it sux but it's not gonna kill ya. yea it's sleep paralises. from what i understand it happens because when ur in R.E.M. sleep, ur body produces some kind of chemicals or hormones that paralize ur muscles so you dont act out ur dreams while ur sleeping, and sometimes when u wake up these hormones are still for some reason in effect, so you cant move for a little bit. i've read theres no physical harm that can happen to u from it or long term effects or anything, just a minute of feeling like ur dieing is all lol.
yeah, it always happens to me when im in a car..i think it has something to do with the nervous system falling asleep? losing the blood flow...but yeah it sucks..i always start to wake myself up by wiggling a finger, then the hand and my arm and eventually it wakes everything else up...
so would sleepwalking be on account of the body not producing those chemicals or hormones that paralyze the body and keep it from acting out dreams?
i've never sleptwalked.. what is it like? have you ever woken up from it while walking? i heard if you somebody is sleepwalking not to wake them up because they will freak out..
damn there is so many fuckin threads about this shit, and no one who starts them ever knows what it's called! Well, Im not saying that the name matters, but woah there's a lot of these is all im saying. It's not really that amazing of an experience once you know what it is and your not afraid of it anymore, especially when it happens to us a lot.
I think I had that happen to me once. Is that where like you wake up but your body wont move? ,and you feel like you are floating looking down on yourself? I had that happen to me when I was younger. My dad liked to joke with me when I talked about it ,because he seen me eating paint chips once ,hehe.
I used to sleep walk but have not done so for a long time. Can't remember what it was like doing it but people would tell me I was walking around the room and talking with them etc... One time while sleepwalking I woke up in the middle of taking a shower. My mother woke up while climbing out a second story window, she had been dreaming the house was on fire. Sometimes the two of us would meet while both sleepwalking
This often happens to me if my eyes are open. sometimes it happens when I'm sleeping upright. my eyes will slighty open and I'm just staring out the windshield, a wall, or a ceiling, and I get a strange gut feiling. It sucks!
I talked to my cousin who is a Doctor and she said somehting like when your asleep (in REM (RAPID EYE MOVEMENT) your whole body is paralyzed accept your heart muscle and lung muscles. that may have something to do with it but im not positive. i just put two and two together and that is what i came up wiith
