I just heard of him a month ago, and I can't get enough. I love his voice and his violin.. Anyone else?
he is amazing...definitly one of my favorite vocalist, and my favorite violinist. damn good whistler to! im suprised that not to many people know him...he doesnt seem very well known, but i could easily see him being rather popular.
He's good, but he's not amazing. If you do like him though, check out the band he used to be in, The Squirrel Nut Zippers.
Yea i saw him live in Milwaukee... He is very theatrical... all of his albums are great and i am very pleased to see him on the hippie fest venues this year... I can only hope he plays 10klf!
Me too! I hope he plays more songs from his new album though, the show I saw had very few... is other albums are great too, but I like is style on the new one the best.
Hey Mushie... Ohio here, too. Anyways I love Andrew Bird and I going to see him at Bonnarro as well. Can't wait! Did you know that Andrew Bird was one of the nominees for the New Pantheon Music Prize. He was not one of the the finalist, but there are many great Indie artists who are. Check it out and chat at www.teampantheon.com Later!
I have only had a chance to listen to the new album. I've been looking around for his other ones, but have had a hard time.
hey now you can stream a couple of the songs he played at bonnaroo. it was really good has everyone heard armchair apocryphist? *loveloveloveLOVELOVE*
I downloaded both Mysterious Production and Armchair last year and, upon listening, figured that both would fade into the 'clever and listenable but not all together great' playlist on my ipod. Neither album has yet. I'm going to download more of his stuff. Any recommendations? Weather Systems is on its way.
I saw him open for Wilco recently from the 3rd row. It was interesting to see how he used all of the loops, and was nice to hear such a nice voice, and some pretty guitar and violin over them too
Lucky you. I'm actually jealous. Althought, recently I've discovered that I am connected to someone that is close with a cousin of the artist. can you say backstage pass?? He's trained classically in Violin. So you're gaurenteed to get a good show. Something severely lacking in most other performers these days (is classical training ... it just takes things up a notch). In a perfect world, he wouldn't be opening for Wilco. They'd be opening for him.
