Tomorrow in the UK, but Tuesday in the US! The release of "On An Island". I purposefully have not downloaded it because I wanted to buy it and have all the material to go with it. This is the first Gilmour studio CD release since 1994! Not counting the 2002-3 "Meltdown" DVD. I am SO PUMPED!
I've just realized that this is the greatest album I've ever heard in my entire life. It's #1 in the the UK and hopefully will soon be here. BUY IT NOW!!!!
Only heard it through once in my boyfriends car, but seemed pretty good. Looking forward to getting better acquainted with it!
I bought it and I really enjoyed it there are a few great tracks on it and the guitar work as always with Gilmour is excellent.
david gilmour is a fucking genius it's about time he came out with this he's been talking about it for a long ass time yaaaaoooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuu and just in time i'm goin on a road trip the last epic road trip i took i tripped out on dark side on eyah, and pulse man oh man those soaring high mountian sand dunes between colorado and utah were glowing white was like surrealistic flight that night... the epitome of sweeet, this is such good news
I would highly recommend just for the song 'This Heaven' alone. It's absolutley catchy and rocking! And it's the best seller on amazon! I dont think a solo-Floyd album has ever been this successful.
Hey...that's not true. PINK FLOYD was more than just Gilmour (I love him!) It was an experience. It was Gilmour, Waters, Mason, & Wright (and Syd). Gilmour's contribution was phenonemal and I LOVE the new album, but don't blaspheme the Floyd, man.
dude did you even read my last post i fucking recognize!!!!!!!!, was just stating my opinion damnit. hahahahahahaaha you have to admit though, floyd sucks without gilmore, who was really just replacing barret. you know what they say about souls having doubles
holy shit i am an ignorant fuck! i am thinking about roger watters !!!!!!! you can tar and feather me if you please please jsut don't bring me to the gallows!
I liked early Floyd. The Syd Years, myself. Maybe not as much as Gilmour, but I don't think Rog, Nick and Rick SUCK without Dave.
ok shit i always get this confused. i am thinking about david gilmour, he is the fucking man. the rest of the band is ok
I love the Syd stuff. It took a little getting used to, but now my band actually covers some of it, and it's great fun. Naturally we sort of give them a modern re-tooling (no point playing other people's music note-for-note after all) but they always go over well. That said, though, I think Floyd's peak was 70-75.
bought that album on tuesday and only listend to it twice so far ;( i think im gonan fall asleep to it tonite, theres an idea! as for the music itself, its abosolutly fucking owns! favorite track is #6 (whats it called agaiN?) love the riff in there its just so peaceful and full of love
This album is way better than anything Floyd have done since the Final Cut. For once it seems that Gilmour is really thinking about his compositions - there's some lovely chord changes in there, as well as his best guitar work in years. And his lyrics seem to have improved a lot (although I'm not sure how many of those were written by others).
