Women are losing again...

I love sex as much as anyone. Probably more than most people. I also love to dominate or submit during. That's all well and good.

I also don't have a problem with anyone wanting to have sex with whomever they want, calling themselves a "bitch" or "slut" or whatever. I don't think prostitution should be illegal.

BUT!!!!

I am getting damn sick and tired of the regression of our culture to the point that women seem to be getting the same type of treatment from pop culture. Either an "object" or an "ornament".

I am sick of hearing guys talk about "their bitch" or "their ho". I usually lose it then. And end up saying something like, "Look, you sick fuck, a woman is not a piece of goddamn property, ok?!? They are HUMAN FUCKING BEINGS and they do not BELONG to you, asshole! Furthermore, they are not "hos" and "bitches". If there is any bitch here it is YOU, asshole motherfucker!"

Yes, I am pretty cool and laid back guy, but that shit pisses me the fuck off. My mother and my grandmother, my girl friends and my wife are the most beautiful HUMAN BEINGS on this earth and I wouldn't trade them for 40 times the amount of male friends. Ok?

I am so sick of seeing women getting treated like objects and ornaments on this fucking music videos which glorify money and elitism as well.

I believe in free speech and if a woman wants to be a whore, that's her game, but our pop culture is endorsing, promoting and supporting the degradation and downplaying of women STILL in 2006!

What the fuck has my lady friends been fighting for? To go from the "little woman" to the "ho"? From "my old lady" to "my bitch"?

I swear to god, I want to kick the shit out of these cocksuckers running around treating women like meat.

My wife and I are EQUALS. I am not the "king" and she is not the "knave". We are two people who respect each other and are completely honest. We don't lie to each other --even about the little things such as "How do I look in this?" We are honest, but not hurtful.

I am just tired of it.

Thank you, Libertine. Just that post shows at least some progress has been made. But, of course more needs to be made. (Not by you, by society in general.) Part of the problem is girls and womyn who think men treating them like you described is OK, or normal or to be tolerated. Girls who think they have to shave their pubes and look like a child only for the reason that "no guy will have sex with me" or allow themselves to be exploited in movies, music videos, TV in real life ect are so much part of the problem, as much as the men who think this way as well. Movies which make prostitutes look "glamourous" like "Pretty Woman" set womyn's rights back 30 years.

Loving sex never harmed womyn or men. Hell, I love it, too. The problem isn't SEX. It's hatred of gender. You see what the problem is, and it looks like you are part of the solution. The first part of solving a problem is knowing it exists, and then getting angry about it, and then doing something about it.

Thanks so much, Libertine. My husband and I have this converstaoin quite often, and it is good to know there are other men out there that realize this as well. Raise your kids right, hope they raise their's right, and hopefully soon we will overwhelm the other's with sheer numbers, and women will be more to american society than eye candy for men.

Yeah, the key is to raise your kids to respect people, all people, no matter whether they have a penis or not, no matter how they are different from yourself. Sounds like your parents did a really good job raising you right!

a very wise person once told me to marry a man who treated his mama the way I wanted him to treat me. She said that a man who treats his mother poorly would treat his wife the same way. In my experience, her advice has *always* proven to be true.

 

Libertine, your post was invigorating. Knowing that there are men out there that respect women and realize the way the media and society portray women is DEAD WRONG. My boyfriend and I talk about it on occasion and it's pretty sick how society portrays women as sexual objects and it oversexualizes our children.

We as women need to speak up for ourselves and stand up and say, "This isn't right", also.
