Hi folks, Haven't been by the Hip forums in a while, but this was so inspiring that I had to share. http://www.phayul.com/news/article.aspx?id=12018&article=Tibetan+protest+debut&t=1&c=1 To sum it up, This activist walks into the middle of Tiananmen Square while the Parliament was in session. He opens his jacket (Right next to the sign that is counting down the minutes to the '08 olympics.) and unfurls a banner, in front of reporters, that is basically a plea for freedom for Tibet, including a web address. When the woman next to him starts screaming, (Who wants to be the person standing next to the person protesting in Tiananmen Square, you know?) and the authorities start to take notice, he jumps on his bicycle and rides to the Swiss Embassy. He was born in Switzerland and is therefore a citizen. He walks in the door and says something along the lines of, "Y'all might want to get me the fuck out of here right about now." So the Swiss escort him to the airport and put him on the next plane to Hong Kong. Is that beautiful or what?! No machine guns, no long prison term (Excuse me, I mean 13 year "psychiatric treatment"). The Chinese government gets a gigantic thumb of the nose and there isn't a damned thing they can do about it. Best protest ever! Anyway, thought you'd enjoy. Have a lovely day.
