I don't pay attention to them really. Like I don't have any brand name clothes, but that's not from a decision to not buy them, that's just how it turned out. Brand names are too expansive, I buy all my clothes at Value Village.
I don't care what the brand is, as long as the clothing is cheap. I do very much dislike advertising brand names, though When I get stuff, I just remove all the labeling on it and tear off stupid shit that is only added for fashion purposes.
Wow! We all agree on cheap! To me, buying American is so important right now to try and save our manufacturing base before it's totally decimated. Peace, and God bless us all! James
uhum....actually my fav jeans are gap long and leans low rise, dark blasted vintage 34 inseam...and they're always on sale for like 30 bucks!!!!!! it's great. so I got ya beat there (; I do like designers-not name brands persay though. I like to know what I am getting though and how something is manufactured so I will stick to certain brands for work. I'm a pretty conserevative dresser normally but have some really cool artsy clothes by indie designers that I break out once in awhile. And I am addicted to that store forever 21 for 'going out' clothes as I don't like to pay a lot of money for trendy or slutty stuff that's gonna be outta style soon.
-i havent read all the posts here- i think it depends on some of the brand names... if you're like, a slave to louis vitton well... i think that's pretty sad and should have been avoidable. you're just turning into one of those trend whores... gross! but i don't have a problem with american apparel. that's sweat shop free? i like that. i have TONs of stuff from there. more and more though, i'm going away from places like american eagle where its all made in india with crappy wages and who knows what.
I only wear Polo. I have a Nautica shirt...but I dont wear it much. It has to have the horse. The horse gets girls. trust me
When I see people wearing sweatshirts with billboard sized letters from the clothing manufacturer on them, I feel sorry for them. First of all, they are performing a service for free, that no single forum in internet would tolerate - free advertising. Secondly, I wonder just what the people think when they buy brand names? Boasting to the world that they have bought quality? Especially when so many of the so-called brand names are mere copies? Thirdly, what happens to people's individuality, if they all have to have a Nike, Tommy Hilfinger or Polo shirt on? Have they made it to the team of established and accepted individuals. Do they sacrifice their personality for the sake of the approval of the mob? Last a couple of personal stories: I once met the heiress of the Dupont Dynasty, when she was 19. She wore no shoes, and no brand names. In fact she didn't even bathe regularily. She was so wealthy, that she really didn't care if people approved of her or not. I once went on a Christmas vacation in Turkey, where they took us to the Pamukale falls. It was really cold in the hotels, and I didn't have enough warm clothes, so I decided to buy a sweatshirt. The man at the market stand only had brand names and all fakes, of course. I asked him, if he had a sweatshirt that had no brand name. He didn't, of course. He said that "nobody ever wants a piece of clothing that doesn't have brand name on it". He found my request extraordinarily odd. I explained to him that clothing quality couldn't be measured in a brand name (certainly not in the rip-off brand names in Turkey), and that I am not about to be a walking billboard for any Calvin, Tommy, Donna or Diane. I had to settle for a Chiemsee sweatshirt or freeze. After the first wash it shrunk to the toddler size, and I tossed it.
I hate logos hanging out on clothing. Almost everything I buy is from Salvo and I do get alot of great stuff by well known quality manufacturers but its not usually something that has logos stuck on the outside. I find most of the stuff that does that to be trendy shit and alot isn't very well made IMHO.
I will wear something that is name brand if it's cheap, if it does not show their logo. I don't want to be a walking advertisement for some company that I probably don't agree with. It's important to me, how the clothes are made, if anyone is hurt, if people are treated well ( employees...and more) and how the company works. I think it's just part of my responsibility as a caring person, to care about things like this.
All of my clothes are either hand made, from a second hand store, or given to me... and alot of my clothes just some how appeared in my home and i will wear them and someone will be like ohhh i use to have pants just like that... and ill giggle to myself i figure if they did not care enough to remember they were at my house why should i not have a secret... any way ill wear anything brand name or not but i have found most big brand names are actually of a higher quality and last through more people....
I dont really wear brandname you can call me a nonconfromist - i try to have my own look i ussally wear black
I dont wear anything with writing on the outside.... Ok, I can't afford anything that has writing on the outside! Seriously, the names mean nothing to me. As soon as people mention a brand name, I know it's too well known to appeal to my quiet, non-conformist, invisible nature.
I hate brand names. I dont want people to look at me and think they can judge me on the brands I wear. So I just give up with em. I have mainly band shirts and a couple of message shirts. Wearin my I <3 Lesbians one now.
What the fuck are you talking about cooloner? Anyway....that south park episode...so funny. Anyone notice that non-conformists judge people by the rate of conformity therefore reducing themselves to the level of the conformers in having standards?
I like the style and quality of many 'brand name'... i like addidas.. but i would not wish to have ADDIDAS emblazoned on my chest.. no way .. it just looks Naff.
