patchy clothes guides/instructions

what type of guide or instruction books would you all like to see available for patchy clothes? what type of patterns? sewing instructions? what do you think would be the most helpful and what instructions are needed the most?

 

i would like to know what to make with all my little pieces of corduroy that i have left over from cuttin. i know i could make little flower petals or somethin like that but i have no other ideas. sort of havin a brain fart right now. prolly cause i am workin on so much dang stuff LOL. i think the only question that i really have is how to cut the right sizes i always try and measure the fabric up but i get different sizes and shapes and i am trying to get STRAIGHT edges thanx

I have the same problem. I thought they would be great for kindling in a fire.

i would LOVE to know how to make long sleeved shirts and hoodies. that is info that cant be found...anywhere.

 

patchwork skirts the intricite tiered ones

 

My first project consisted of a cheap skirt pattern and a bunch of random fabric.
Basically if you just want the front patchy, you cut the pattern out according to the directions in the package. Instead of cutting a big piece for the front part, you create the desired "patchwork" by sewing the pieces you want together until you have a huge rectangle or even a square. Then just cut the fabric like it states.

I'm not that great with directions.

 

Basically the way I understood to do it was:

Get a hoodie pattern. Simplicity has one here

So anyway. Then you make a sheet of patchwork 45 inches wide and however many yards you need for each piece. Cut out the pattern and sew together normally. You could make the sheets seperate for each piece so that the sleevs are the same. Make a special sheet for the pocket. Mix it up, what ever.

wow that's amazing, although i feel kinda silly for not thinking to buy a pattern...but whatever, im off to the fabric store right now!

 

i make alot of patchwork...and most of the time i just make up my own pattern. it's really not that hard..or i might use a pair of pants or something that i like alot as my pattern say for the rise...

i think there is something special about us heady sewing mamas that we don't need patterns...

but ur idea is good for new comers
