It is real early, but i got an inside tip it will be in the Roosevelt/Arapahoe national forest area, kinda near Nederland-Granby-Boulder-northern CO. But this is strictly a rumor, and it won't be known til June.

Definately not in Nederland, out in the forest, probably at least 20 miles to the nearest town. But for the early rumormongers (like me, i guess):
    1. The consesus said Colorado, not the region, just Colorado.
    2. The southern half of Colorado (and all of New Mexico) is in a drought condition, while the Northern forests are fine, particularly around the greater Boulder area.
    3. Theres not as much scouting energy, so like the last gathering out West, (in California), this years gathering may be close to an old site.
    4. There is some sentimentality for the past, ie the '72 granby gathering.
    5. Nederland and Boulder are kewl, and the family has enough troubles to go where it is not kewl.
    6. I heard it from someone who truly was at the first gathering.

Hey, but at this point, North or South, it doesn't really matter, definately Colorado.

Hey Now! I'm sorry but ya'll are really just speculationg and a lot of what you mention is inaccurate. I've been to all of the Scouting Meetings for the Co. National and you are wrong. :p

Please be more supportive of the Scouting, and come on up here and do it too if you think the Scouting has poor energy. You should come up from Ablq. and help Scout. You aren't that far away. That'll be more Rainbow of ya, to contribute rather than to detract..

It is NOT NEDERLAND. IT IS NOT IN 3 SISTERS NP. There ISN'T any decision...yet UNTIL AFTER Spring Council. Only speculation and discussion thus far. Please respect the Rainbow Process of Council, squash all "rumor tumor". Peace....:p

The Gathering is in full swing in colorado, and if you want you could go there now and see it. There are scouts and potlucks and flyers and hitchikers and newbies all over the place. Every other hippie in colorado has an opinion. If you need a rainbow contact over there let me know.
There are at least two websites set up just for this gathering.
One is the colorado yahoo family thing (i can't remember the address) and it will outlive the gathering, and has a lot to do with the gathering in general.

The other is http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/welcomehome2006 and it is more or less for the purpose of hosting the "Welcomehome" camp.

Just a few of the many things happening.

I didn't say "poor energy". I said "not as much scouting energy". Considering actual scouting involves a lot of driving and gas, less is better. I clearly said it was just a rumor. Are you opposed to free speech??

Much Respect to you all ~ but I would have to say I've been seeing a WHOLE LOT OF ENERGY going on for the scouting effort. I know it's easier to criticize than actually walk your talk. Also it has been expressed that the need for more Scouts in the RAINBOW TRADITION is much in need, some of these folks are facing their Twilight Years and are getting tired feel they need to pass it on, only passing on the information. I for one plan on helping out!!!
Donate to the Scouting fund then ~ (303) 595-1077. That's the number for the colorado light-line.
And like Rastapatch suggested, plug into the yahoo groups. Or check out the Colorado Rainbow Family. org site. I've been going to all the meetings/potlucks/ and scout meetings thus far, and I have to say all your "rumors" are tumors... they have an effect on the whole.
I've checked out the maps, the suggested sites of the NF'ers as well, and have consulted with long time colorado scouts, and I would have to those areas you just kinda just dropped as if "you knew", are NOT being considered.

Free speech, dude I don't own your process, nor your filter, just trying to help out those who might take your illegitimate statement as the real deal. That might have real negative consequences on someone. March is a very unstable month for weather and snowstorms are very likely.
Also, bringing on the attention of the NFS is not wise either. Respect the Rainbow process and be patient like the rest of us. The location has not been decided on.

Thanx for the Good News, Sister. As someone who doesn't own a car it is certainly good to hear that the scouts are walking the walk. It is nice to know that they are checking out potential Natonal gathering site by walking, biking, hitchhiking, or taking their biodiesel vehicles. It is also good news that this year the site is not decided or the forest Service doesn't know, or isn't participating in the decision. On May 8, 2003, the forest service and Summit County Utah officials knew where the Utah gathering was going to be held, in fact they probably knew much earlier given the usual pace of government buracracy. It is good to hear that rainbow is under new focalizing, and proper procedures are being followed, and the site selection will not be decided until early June, and that the forest service won't switch sites, like last year.

There is only one, not pulral mama, it is the annual "Rainbow Family Of Liveing Light", National Gathering. Calling it "Nationals" makes it sound like some car race & takes away from the true existence of the Gathering.

What? Am I supposed to take that as an insult? If so, you better come up with something better.

    Hey hey!

First post here, and getting pumped for the gathering. Not sure if I am riding my motorcycle out from MN, or catching a bus out with my bike to somewhere nearby, but I will be on the land for a month or so altogether. I've got high hopes for 06, and the setting couldn't be better in my opinion, so I'll see you all out there.
