colored pencil works in progess

here are two things i've been working on, off and on, for a while.... constructive criticism is greatly appreciated! they're pretty simple, especially the flower that i started oh-so-long-ago.... made to look like a stained glass picture... sort of... i don't know, i was stuck and couldn't decide if i should keep it totally stained-glass-esque or not... anyway, here they are full version and detail... actually the detail pics are kinda blurry.... maybe i'll replace them later

i definately agree with mooney, and he tree picture is awesome for colored pencil. i'm not very fond of the flower, but only because of composition, not skill.

dropkickinferno, what's your opinion on the composition? is it the subject you don't like, or the way it's put together? i'm curious and i'd like to know. like i said, i had trouble with that one...

I have fallen in love with your pictures they are so amazing, they seem to be the sort of pictures I would look at for ages and actually inspire me to come up with as story……..they are so amazing…..

*I love trees and forest type pictures, they remind me of something I experienced when I was younger – which I don’t think I would have remembered if it was not for the pictures*
One question ……. Um on the last picture did you come up with those words – its pretty incredible?

fh, the last picture is my signature and i didn't make it, it's by a very talented artist i came across a while back... i forget her name but she has a lot of great stuff... here are a few more of her things:

anyway, here's an update of the tree pic. i'm trying to decide if the swirls in the sky are too distracting...

HOW do you get your colored pencils so SMOOTH??

 

i use prismacolor colored pencils and i blend a lot... they're kind of expensive, but they're wonderful and hopefully it'll look really smooth, pretty waxy, when it's done.

Lovely use of colour. Ive tried using pencils and ive never been that successful with them-so admire anyone who can make them work

 

It's great and I like the swirls, they add to it imho.

 

The color use that you have in the tree picture is amazing, tons of it, but not overdone. All the colors blend together smoothly, it kind of gives me the illusion that the picture wil keep going as I look off of the paper. It actually reminds me a little bit of the style in the movie "What Dreams May Come". This is one of the best colored pencil drawings I have ever seen. Great job!
