they win so many gold medals because - they have the highest multicultural population density in the world, as well as having the most money in the world, thus being able to fund the most athletes in the most strength areas.

they have the tastiest food caus they also have the most unhealthy food, built on capitalism, thus commerce, thus advertising, thus superficiality.

how many great bands come from america?? once again - more people, more funding, more business, more bands.
as for the music only being able to come from there, makes little sense, since the whole point of america is that it has come from everywhere else - irish, african, spanish influences simply coming together because everyone was shitpiled together and made music. i doubt if you asked the poverty ridden black americans how much they loved their country when the blues was being made, they would have mixed viewpoints.

american cinema, art, literature, all things that are simply the inevitable result of mixing lots of resources, HUGE money, and opression of all cultures other than that of the government.

i like the way you can crtitisse others for using government as a criteria, but you can like a country due to its artists - who make up less of a portion of population than polititians and commerce-workers. i also like the way, out of all the artists you could have used to show a rich understanding of american culture, you have chosen modest mouse.



as for helping kick hitlers ass, maybe the fact that they had a whole continent to themselves, the furthest removed from any possible invasion, as well as a huge economy fuelled by underpriveleged workers, to build up a force that could kick anyones ass. maybe that had something to do with it?

i've seen this kind of constructive debate technique before - by simply shouting down all detractors to your view you "win". i think that the original purpose of the thread was to find out what australians think of america. blind obedience regardless of anything would be a good place to start. rest easy friend a good dog knows its master.

no i think lowly of america them for reasons stated. the fact that they have lots of money just means they arent actually that great as a nation dispite having a popular output; they just have the money to realise more things, whereas other nations with perhaps better ideas cant compete on the same level and thus have relatively less output

valid in terms of respect and thus oppinion of the country, yes. you might like their stuff, but if they didnt have likable art then they would be below-par. they dont have relatively better art or culture than anywhere else, in fact they probably are below par in the end anyway

Most Australians tend to think Americans are stupid (at least the ones I know). Also, lots of us tend to think that American humour is unfunny and cruel. Many Americans also seem to have a very right-wing take on things (even those that say they support the democrats), this one really pisses me off.

But hey, not all Australians think like this.

 

Americans are dumb as fuck, and so are Australians. I say fuck America and look at our crumby government, it might not have a fraud as a president but it still has one cock of a prime minister.

People tend to blame America for all wrong-doings these days(Though they have done wrong doings in the past and still are) but most countries have an evil government, it's just history's way. Though Americans annoy me immensely, well just some....
