hello i was just thinking about animals and wondered if anyone here has or once had a particular fear of an animal. When I think about it I think that cats are really cute, but for me I don’t really know why but I tend to fear being around Cats (its okay if they are across the road from me or in another room though). I would also like to ask if any of you have any tips or advise of overcoming animal fears
Haha! My neighbours son has a house rabbit and I think she would agree with you. As kids they were never allowed pets, so when he went to uni he got the rabbit. Came home with him for holidays and nibbled furniture and humans alike, had to sit on a chair too. Now he's home for good the rabbit is a permanent fixture, but mam isn't at all keen. My rabbits have never been fond of indoors, apart from when they've been off-colour.
Fear of animals - no, but I've always been respectful of the them. Animals have their own personalities and foibles same as humans so I think the approach is all important. Course, I'd never dream of approaching ANY wild animal, leave that to the experts.
Ditto Do agree about cats though, they creep me out a bit. They just seem so sneaky. Those sharp claws are there for a reason and I don't suppose they'd be afraid to use them. I was terrified of dogs as a child, no logical reason what so ever for it. Or how I got over it. Very odd. Really huge and/or excitable ones still freak me out a bit.
I like most animals just fine. Even most insects don't creep me out too much. I do think that some animals should be liked from a distance though love, mom
I grew up with cats and when I got older I got smaller animals for my own as well. I found out that I love cats, dogs, rodents and other furry small things An ex boyfirend got me started on rabbits when we "fostered" one. We kept him and he was very sweet. His names was Nestle and he would do jumps. Rabbits do little somersaults when they are happy! I have had my cat Turbo since I was 3 (he just passed away, the day before my 21st birthday). I got another cat 13 years ago and love them very much. He still lives with my parents. At my house we have our dog (adopted in June) our cat (adopted in October) and my two rats that I adopted over 2 years ago. Animals I am scared of- roaches. They can't bite I don't think but they scare me. I think goats have shifty eyes but are adorable.
i've alway loved and respected all animals and when i was a kid (and didnt know better) i kept alot of "pets" such as hamsters and birds and iguanas..... i even had pet earthworms which i would take out everyday and hold them and just be in awe of them. now im so grossed out by worms i wont go within ten feet of one. i'd say that goes for all spiders as well.
wow thanks for your posts "still trying to overcome my fears of cats" i do find them cute but they scare the hell out of me.... um hehehhe i actually remember having a pet worm one day i decided to leave it in a opened box and popped to the toilet and when i came back it had disappeared i cried so much
i was attacked by a dog...actually 2. one when i was really young not too bad a little scar on my nose, the other when i was 18 not too bad...really nasty scar about the size of a half dollar on my thigh. anyways ya i got some fear of big dogs. small ones don't bother me. for the most part if i know its friendly i just close my eyes and breathe deep til i calm down. luckily i don't how i'd respond to not so friendly dog.
I've never been afraid of any animal unless you count insects... in that case, spiders. I've been bitten and attacked by dogs, cats, mice, geese, ducks, pigs, goats, and everything else (I've had just about everything as a pet). It never did make me scared of them. Well, once I worked at a vet's office and this one cat suspected of rabies went corncob on my arm when I was carrying it to isolation unit. I was a little cat-shy for about a month or two after that happened. I had puncture scars in the shape of fangs lining my arm from wrist to elbow... 8 of them! lol. I got over it though. And the cat ended up NOT having rabies so YAY!
