Anyone see this film? It's a documentary but has dramatization to go along with the narrative. it's about two mountain climbers in the 1980's, who attempt a climb to the summit of a mountain in remote Peru that no other climbers had scaled before. they make the climb with some difficulty. then they begin the decent. one of the climbers is a more experienced climber than the other. the inexperienced climber falls and telescopes his knee. now they must work together trying to descend the mountian. at one point the uninjured climber unknowingly lowers his friend over the edge of a crevasse. as he also slides towards the crevasse he must decide whether to cut the rope and save himself or plunge to his own death. the story follows the injured climber who never seems to give up no matter how dark things get. my favorite part of the movie has to be his description of those last miles he crawls, feeling that death is not far away and he has the boney m song 'brown girl in the ring' stuck in his head. what a surreal moment! touching the void is a documentary worth seeing. kathy
