oh, no. It doesn't work that way. If you are rebellious, your kids will rebel against you and want crew cuts (or whatever the current fashion is). LOL If I had dreads, it would probably be the last thing my kid wanted in her hair!!
you really are nuts, aren't you? Little kids don't get labeled as druggies or maggots. Nobody thinks any less of my kid because of her hair. Actually, we are always getting comments on how cool it is, even from the straight-laced square peg types. And it doesn't matter what people think. That's the whole point that I think you are missing. It doesn't matter what people think. one more time. It doesn't matter what people think. What matters is that my child expresses her individuality and that she likes the way her hair is. That's all that matters. If some dumb joe thinks she's a five year old pot head, that's his problem. Because what matters is who she really is, on the inside.
And you're one of those people who like to label others...people like you are what is wrong with society.
But you're putting people in small categories...so do you think that people with dreads are maggots and druggies? be honest.
BAHAHAAHAAAA what a ridiculous argument...purple_nuts, you're not even replying to what these women are being respectful enough to say to you...i mean, your posts don't warrent a thought out reply, but people here are decent enough to give it to you... and you respond to "it's unimportant what random people think" (which is a principle that i think most dreadded folks subscribe to) with "i've seen 5 year olds smoking pot, thus your child *will* be labled a pothead"...DUDE! that's just...hilarious to say the least. c'mon, try to make an effort...or don't. cause it seems like the only adversity these kids have faced so far, is coming from you...not any of the other people you seem to think are gonna read them as "maggots"...which is also just bizarre to say, man. so y'know, leave the kids alone...call me a maggot or a pothead, not innocent children.
When I have kids, they will have the freedom to be little adults and make their own decisions about their hair and clothes from an early age. How else will they learn about personal responsibility unless they practice it from a young age? There are some limits to what they wear (ie they comply with the dress code b/c mama won't want to deal w/ the bullshit school authorities) but I don't think this will be too much of a problem. After all, if my daughter can't wear that cute halter top at school, she can put it on as soon as she leaves the building! I support individuality! Peace & love
i never said you called them maggots or druggies...i said that you said people will lable them as such... it's weird that you would quote my post and then misread it in your response immediately afterwards. i did say that if you want to relate having dreads to smoking weed or being maggotty, you should take it up with somebody other than the kids...
i had dreads when i was little mostly because i have super curly hair and i wouldn't let my mom brush it but when you look back in pictures it just looks like i have really curly hair
Huckster, why would you want to? Have you ever heard the saying, don't argue with the ignorant (or insane)? There's no point! Peace & Love
lovely feature on vbulletin message forums... ignore ETA - never mind, it says he's banned under his name anyway. LOL
well i have dreads, and im not a druggie or a maggot, thats gay... i hate stereotypes!!! (sp?) what u have on ur head or how u dress dosnt make u nething, but u
ok...let's not start with using "gay" as an insult...i'm sure you don't mean it that way, and you have gay friends, but...it's still hurtful to use it in such a manner...and i'm not tryin' to start a fight with you or anything, just puttin' it out there...
pardon me, (stupid insane, ridiculous blahh blah blah) and i have many gay friends, but, that has never stopped me from using it that way. o well
yea seriously, if you have gay friends than make the decision not to use gay as an insult. nobody says that except the rich SUV driving popped collar kids. and it is offensive to a lot of people. honestly when people say it they sound ignorant and we dont need knotty brothers and sisters putting out negative vibes! haha. if you honestly don't mean it that way, then it would be a good thing for you (and everyone) to speak in a way more consistent with what you intended to convey.
