Well, i can officially save money now. I bought a nice starter set, with all i need to tattoo everything my right arm can reach. Pretty excited about it, i guess i am officially hardcore lol.
oh yeah, and props to tattooing your self instead of a voulenteer . i've seen way to many shitty tattoos that were somebody's first. i wish every tattoo artist would start on them selves.
I have friends that own shops, but honestly, why use one? Whatever I have to catch from myself, i already have. This is just for me for now, so same needle, somewhat sterile tubes. If i start to oneday tattoo others, of course I will use an autoclave, but for now, its not a thing.
That's hot. I'm saving to buy myself one aswell, any suggestions as to where I can find a nice affordable start kit?
whoa dude. im not even going to get into why you need to use an autoclave, yes even on your self. but reusing needles? damn.
Reusing needles is passable and legal in some states, as long as sterile. Not gonna use them past twice, lest they get dull and fuck my skin up. Im gonna sterilize, just dont see the point in another $700 bucks for steam and heat. Im not a virgin man, i know tattooing. Moon, go to www.tat2kits.com $119 plus $10 shipping.
Novocaine, stop being a know-it-all. Heron is a big boy....he knows what he can and cannot do. Oh, and thanks! That saves me a lot of money....all the ones I've seen are over $400.
This is a sweet set up, a few bottles of ink, and a skin pad for practice. Oh yeah, and FLASH lol, not that i need that. I am gonna use it mostly for small tats that I have wanted, like spirals on my feet, and fingers, and ritual markings when I need them, all things that arent worth $50 minimums, and the time it would take. And as to sterilizing, whats the problem with boiling the tubes for 10-15 minutes? what do i have that cant be killed by that? oh, and I would rather buy new tubes and needles for every tattoo that I do than buy an autoclave to recycle them. Autoclaves are for large turnover of supplies, not the occasional tattoo.
Groovy. I just put in an order. Way excited! Ya, small tats aren't worth the effort of using gas, money, and time of going to a 'professional' when you can do the work yourself.
i agree that you buying a autoclave would be worthless. but why just boil them ghetto style, then throw them in a zip lock or some other rig and put it in a drawr? why not just go to your friends shops, auto clave it like it should be done, and have them in sterile pouches that keep it 100% sterile for years? needles dull, they get one use, then theyre shot. and its not just tubes and needles that need to be autoclaved, the machine needs to be sterilized too. everything that you touch needs to be clean. and even so you can get the whole process down comfortably would be cause enough to use an autoclave. most professionals start out by setting up, and tearing down. i dont know if you ever plan on tattooing other people or not. but even for the sake of practice you should be familiar with strict cross contamination preventation techniques. theres not just the 'stuff you can give your self' you need to worry about, theres also other microbes such as bacteria, fungial spores, and endospores. many of which boiling will not kill. see: http://encyc.bmezine.com/?Boiling moonflower: i am not being a know it all. suggesting that some body uses sterile equiptment on them selves is not grounds for being a know it all.
King, when i apprentice to worry with the Health board here, believe me, that will all be learned. Here it takes 9 months straight! So no worrys. And yeah, I will go ghetto. I spent 6 hours in a guys kitchen getting my sleeve done. Im fine. People today worry too goddamn much about bacteria. I have an immune system. Im sure 2000 years ago, my ancestors refused to be tattooed unless the sharpened iron rods had been in the autoclave and that everyone had on rubber gloves. Oh wait, they werent pansy germ obsessed pussies. Not that you are.
You suggest it over and over and over....he's going ghetto. Get over it. My tattoo artists doesn't autoclave his machine. He said it's bad for the machine.
congrats heron, hay bring that sucker to the gathering, ill trade ya somthing ieven if its just a small dot ,would be cool to have somthin from you.just a small dot even.sunshine to you my brother. frog
AHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA,, i dont believe in body mutilation,, but i agree with that one..
it is bad to sterilize a machine. it still needs to be clean though. just needles and tubes should be autoclaved. i'm not going to argue with anyone on this thread though. just stating what i'm aware of.
If you decide to get deeper into it you can buy kits to make your own needles, its very trick and cheap and with the kits comes these packets that are made by medical action industries in which you put you new made needle in and go through a easy process to make them the right way and they are sealed until needed. And yes alot of the infection shit is hype, always keep your own needle and its so easy to keep them sharp as well as clean...
Go Heron! It'd be cool to see some pics of the stuff you do, if you're comfy with that. I'm learning how to pierce from my artist/piercer, and eventually I'll be tattooing, too. Good luck!
