when people realize that a statistical million are a million 'one murders', then perhapse honor will be restored to this world. comparing the relative heirniousness of one bad apple to another is perhapse a somewhat futile exercise. it is i believe, a not invalad argument against soverignty, or atleast against investing too much of it in individuals, is that there is a tendency for soverign power to be grabbed by not very nice people. =^^= .../\...
Themnax True. Occam wishes there was no heinous acts for us to speak of. The education system certainly plays down any but nazism. And even that is getting washed away and less talked about. Those that dictate the past own the present. And plan the future. Very soon the 20th century will be a thing that is distorted and forgotten by 99% of human beings. Just as the 19th century is now. Only 63 years ago a million people died defending leningrad. Yet only 2 or 3 in a hundred kids out of highshool could say where it was. And why they died. Occam
I feel no need to speak in the third person. But I respect and accept Occam's desire to do so. Occam, do you feel we as readers need to understand why you choose to speak in the third person? Are we not asking the right questions? I may be wrong, but I believe your mind and my mind are running in parallel. This is simply an early observation with no real way of proving it, yet. If I ask you this question will you ask me one in return?
What else do you say to someone who starts a thread to bitch about being a thread killer? You know what would be hilarious? If Occam kills this thread too! Occam, get over yourself...
Luke No.. You and others do not need to know why occam speaks as he does. Any more than occam needs to know what you lot had for breakfast. WHAT occam says is the only thing debatable here. Questioning HOW he says it is simply the self empowerment types trying to find 'advantage' in an age old game they imagine they invented. Ok a question Do you define a difference between your use of 'luke' and your use of 'i'? Other than gramatical? Occam
AS to subsequent posts by levi and shane. Sorry guys.. you need to learn to swim before you go in the deep parts. Occam
The thing BG13 dislikes is as Mark Twain said, "using a dollar word where a dime word will do." Just be clear, punctuation, grammar, spelling, etc. are secondary. BG13 only hopes it is short, clear, and means what was meant. Period. Also, BG13 has wondered the same thing. How many unreplied posts does either of them have, and who in the forums has the most, he pondered.
Blackguard Occam aims for exactly that in his posts. dos'nt always hit bullseye though Luke actually nails it... If occam asked a specific 'what do you think' question at the end of every post.. He thinks few would go unanswered. 'What do u think? Occam
I've got half a mind to.... well, I've got half a mind anyway. I'd give you a piece of my mind but I can't spare any. Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most. Mind you, if you don't mind asking, I don't mind answering. I try not to think. What do u think?
Yes absolutely. "Luke" is merely a label that represents my parents decision to name me so. "Luke" does not mean "I" and "Luke" can mean many different people that share my label. "I" is the way I label myself.
Luke You say 'i' is the way you label yourself. 6.5 billions use that name. One of the reasons occam is Occam or Piglet, Gort, Gilgamesh or To4d. Is that he is so sick of the word i in general conversation he could not bare to use it any more. i,i,i,i,i,i,i,i,i,i,i,i over and over.. humans LOVE saying i i IS the ego. and occam is much more than his ego. His name is what he names himself.. not what others say he should. Occam
I is simply an expression of the english language like and and but. Lying in a field learns to make a distinction. However, lying in a field refuses to acknowledge silly fundamentalisms and recognises personal ingenuity in whatever one chooses to label themselves.
Fascinating. To counter your argument, it is the essence and concept of āIā and not the letter itself that represents the ego. Whether you call yourself occam, Luke, toad or frisbee, you are still referring to yourself. You are still conscious of your ego. Speaking in the third person, rather than the first, does not mean you are stepping outside of, or separating yourself from, your ego. In fact, one could also argue that to deliberately make a point to others that you are attempting to remove yourself from the constraints of your ego is perhaps the greatest act of egoism. This is my observation. I am often wrong.
Now that, is a fantastic expression of a lack of egotism/ Hats off Though in an egoless world such congratulations would not be necessary. Ok....lets rephrase... Nothing.
