Sunday was our 11th wedding anniversary, and my husband took me out to a Mongolian BBQ for dinner. It's awesome, because you pick exactly what you want in your bowl, and then they cook it up right there for you. Well my husband played around with the spices a bit, and wanted me to try it... so I tried one of the mushrooms from his plate (he had beef in his) and nearly lost it right then & there... the mushroom had soaked up the meat flavor, and I swear ALL I could taste was blood! Ewww, yuk! And here I thought that for sure someone had made that up, just to keep new veggies from cheating! Ohh, how nasty... see if I ever munch on a cow again! love, mom
and here I was thinking you'd tried yak. A friend brought back yak "jerky" a few years ago. It was ...odd but better than I remeber cow tasting.
Don't know if they told you, but at Mongolian BBQ they will clean off a section of the grill and put seperators around your food so it doesn't get mixed up with the meat... I *heart* Mongolian BBQ.
yikes that sounds awful... yeah mushrooms soak up everything, it's good usually. I like mushrooms marinated in soy sauce, mmm. So what was it you thought had been made up exactly?
Yeah, actually ours has one grill that's just for vegetarian food! I've had to have them clean the grills off before, because of my pork allergy. They're one of very few places that don't seem to mind when I ask for something like this too. love, mom
Oh... I'd heard that after you've been vegetarian for awhile, all meat will taste like blood. Somehow I hadn't taken that seriously. It sounded like the kind of thing that someone would make up, rather than being true... I believe y'all now though! love, mom
