Homemade flipflops

Has anybody ever made flipflops out of old tires?

i saw it in a book once and it looked cool but i never tryed it =)

 

My dad has a pair of sandals made from tires...he bought them from a vendor and he likes them a lot.

 

As a kid on a commune, so I know it can be done.

 

I'm surprised nobody has volunteered to make sandals for 3rd worlders out of old tires.

 

i have a pair from Nam,they're not terribly comfortable on pavement.

 

instructions are in Abbie Hoffman's STEAL THIS BOOK.... my husband (the car guy!) made me a pair once for fun at christmas.
