i definitely agree with you. guys, don't get me wrong, i'm not saying i'm not going to work, i'm not trying to be a hobo or anything. all i'm saying is that i don't think you must have a lot of money to be happy. from my own experience in my own family, i know that a lot of money doesn't make people happy. so that's why i'm aiming for the simple life. being a bar hopping musician, owning my own bar, owning my own guitar shop, and having other side jobs when necessary is the avenue i want to take. i just want to flow where the river takes me. if i become rich and famous being a musician, then so be it, and if i get sick of that and realize i'm not living a simple life anymore and i'm not happy, then i'll go back to playing in bars again or own a bar or whatever i feel i want to do at that time. take john mayer for instance, he won a couple grammys being a pop star and now he's not afraid to throw that all away by playing his true love, the blues. it's all about taking risks and doing what you love. the uncertainty and the unknown knowlege of if you're going to survive or not is what makes life so great and exciting:sunglasse. call me a dreamer or a fool or whatever you want but going for your dreams should always be priority before the priority of making a lot of money. fulfilling your dreams are what make you happy and i think college is a waste of time and money for me personally to fulfill my dreams.

    Haha. Because we're pimps.

    _______________________________________________________________

    And, to the money=happiness.
I used to think having no money and being myself would make me happy.
It does right now. But, I'm also not trying to make it out on my own.
In a sense....money does mean happiness....no matter how horrible it is for you to admit it right now in your "I know everything because I'm young enough to" state of mind.
If you want to be a broke ass mother fucker and eat dirt and fungus from your fellow homeless people, be my guest. I, on the other hand, have been hit by reality and now know that without a little money, you're going to be unhappy.
Right now, you're living with mommy and daddy and money is no object. Move out, I dare you. I bet then you'll see that you need money more than you think. It isn't free to live in this world....no matter where you go.
If you plan to live off your own crop....You have to have land....that costs money. You have to have seed....that costs money. You have to have things to keep parasites, weeds, and other such things off of your crop to keep them healthy.
    Wake up, honey.

    vs.
Sounds an awful lot like a hobo to me.
But you're arguing against a fairly well proven correlation between living below the poverty level and unhappiness.
Didn't really think that whole dropping out of school thing through, did you, considering you can't play in bars for another 5 years. Chalk one point up to mom.

And why say you want to drop out of society when all you want to do is play in a bar band.
    A hugely risky investment.
Takes a lot of investment to start a business.
I don't have the heart to explain exactly why you're going to end up homeless.

you know, i'm really ashamed in all of you guys. why the hell are you guys so out to get me? why are you so determined to shoot down my dreams? all the hippies from the last generation would be damn ashamed of you. there have been plenty of people over history that have lived the way i want to. and as a matter of fact, i am already fucking old enough to play in a local bar. what's the matter with you guys? you don't sound like hippies at all you sound like everything the hippies were against. and you know what, i don't even care. i'm not about to let you idiots get my spirits down. owning a bar is a very risky business you say? EXACTLY! that's the fucking point. that is what entrepreneurship is...risky. life is about risks and pursuing your dreams. if i make it, great, if i don't, i keep trying, and if i never made it atleast i died trying. i mean what in the hell is the matter with you people? do you just give up on your dreams?

and no, money does not equal happiness. you guys are absolutely crazy. my old guitar instructor has been an instructor for a long time, he lives in a crappy apartment, and he's probably one of the most positive minded guys i know.

bob dylan. he went to college, dropped out, hitchhiked from minnesota to new york, got a crappy ass apartment, and built a whole bunch of shit on his own for furniture. he then played around clubs in new york and got discovered. look at him now. one of the great heros of an era.

and i would have thought that anybody at ANY age would know that you shouldn't give up on your dreams. so i think YOU guys are the ones that need to wake up.

    peace:sunglasse

In Jamaica, they keep diamonds laying around on tables in shops... there's no security and nobody to tell you to do anything. If you shoplift anything, you're taken out back, tied to a pole, and shot.

Toto, we're not in Sandals Ocho Rios Golf Club & Resort anymore.

As they say in Trenchtown (Right bah dah beach [IMG]), keep yarr pants on white boyyyyyyy-e. [IMG]

I think you guys are going over the top. Being homeless and having no job is a bad decision, yeah, but owning a business/farming (which is one I brought up, not him)/owning a bar . . . those are all feasible. My God, it's not like he said, "I'd like to masturbate for a living." Owning a business is hard, yeah, but not impossible--it HAS been done before. You can talk all you want but in the end we make the world what it is. If you don't want to conform to the whole desk job/business thing, you don't have to, even if it's harder. He's right, the hippies from the sixties would be saddened by your pessimism. It's like Ghandi said, you gotta BE the change. You can't just slide by even if there's something bad going on--try to fix it, and if you fail, so what? I respect him because he's sticking to what he believes in and not giving up hope.

Yes, you need money to start those things and it's risky. But if you don't try you'll never know.

Realistic optimist, that's what I try to be. I think there's still hope for this world--it seems like it's getting worse but we have the power to turn it all around. But maybe not you guys, 'cause no offense but you don't really have any youthful enthusiasm. ;)

We're not out to get you....only to let you know you're an idiot.
If your dreams are to be a hobo....then they need to be shot down.
WHY ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT THE HIPPIES....YOU'RE NOT A HIPPIE. Get over it. It's sad that you want to classify yourself as a hippie....just be you, assclown.
We don't have to sound like hippies....incase you haven't noticed....you don't have to be a hippie to be here....shut ya damn mouth.
If you care so little....why do you keep posting these longs posts that just get bitch slapped anyway?
I don't give up on my dreams....because I have dreams that don't leave me poor and as a hobo.

I'm sure your guitar instructor would be plenty unhappy if he didn't have the money to keep his 'crappy' apartment. That's not to say you have to be a millionaire to be happy....just that you have to have enough money to keep you alive and with food and shelter to keep you happy, numbnuts.

If Bob Dylan jumped off of a building, would you do it too?
He isn't really a great hero....just a pretty good musician....

No, you need to wake up....where was it said that we've given up on our dreams? You're the only one here that wants to be a broke ass bitch when he grows up....Wake up.

What he's saying doesn't sound like youthful enthusiasm....it sounds like stupidity of a little baby that has the comfort of mommy and daddys home right now.

Going to Uni is part of my dream - it's pretty difficult to get into politics without a degree.

Everyone should try hitchiking and living poor for a while - just don't advocate it so vehemently until you have tried it.
