Two men meet to argue a point, secure in the knowledge they are right. Two intelligent men meet to argue a point of veiw, secure in the knowledge that the other will understand. Two wise men meet to listen, secure in the knowledge that they both are fools. It's sort of based on the old idea that the only knowledge is knowing that you know nothing.
The wisest man I ever knew had the mentality of a small child. People called him a fool, but he never suffered a migraine or an ulcer from stress, never dug himself into debt to "keep up with the Jones'", and never got into a fight over a difference of opinion. I thought of him when I read this. Thank you.
That's perfect man. As the old quote goes, "I never learned anything while I was talking" though I forget who said it. The wise are the ones who listen, *really* listen.
