    Hi All,
I am planning my trip alot in advance. I will be over there from the 2nd thru the 9th of Dec. I love to experience the christmas traditaion of other countries.

I have a few questions for you all.
    1) I read somewhere that people get together and exchange gag gifts on Dec. 5th. Is this true? Is this a family or friend thing?
    2) Does Amsterdam have a christmas market like Germany does?
    3) Does it snow at christmas time in Amsterdam?
    4) Is there going to be anyone else over there from the 2nd to the 9th, Who Would like to get together with an older married woman who just wants to hang out and toke with some fellow tokers. This is a trip I have been wanting to go on for years. My husband doesn't smoke and doesn't want to ruin my time over there. So he suggested I go by myself and have my dream trip.

    1) Yes, this is true and it's both a friends/family thing. It's called 'Sinterklaas' (short for 'Sint Nicolaas' which is translates as Saint Nicolaas, which evolved in the US to Santa Claus).. so.. it's pretty much the same idea as Santa in the US, but on a different date (the date is his passing away, which in Catholic church is celebrated because that's the date is he goes to heaven) well.. lonnng story, let me know if you want to hear more about the 'helpers' and the animals involved and stuff :)

    2) As far as I know Amsterdam doesn't have the typical German christmasmarkets. However, there's a small store next to the flowermarket where it's christmas all year long :) By the way.. here we put up the three as long as a month in advance of christmas and leave it standing pretty long as well.. that's different from the US and Germany I think..

    3) Hope, pray and cast magic spells and yes, then it'll surely snow :) No, serious.. It might snow.. or not.. but keep in mind that it's a big city where temperature therefor is higher, so even if it does snow, it won't really stay.

    4) I might be there, don't really know yet, but I'll keep it in mind! Have a nice trip and feel free to ask anything you want to know! :) By the way.. if your hubby doesn't want to smoke, he can still experience weed by eating 'space-bonbons' or just plain 'space-cake'.. or doesn't he want to use any form of weed?

My husband has a bad reaction to smoking. I have seen him freak out over 2 hits off a joint. He was so bad that he sat out side in his underware in below 0 degree weather and not come down. The weed was no where as good as in Amsterdam. It really sucks cause I would enjoy the company.

Why shouldnt he go if he doesnt smoke? Smoking is allowed but not requested.
I go to festivals and all of my friends share joints but i wont. That doesnt mean i wont have just as much fun.
Just smoke if you want to and let him go with you whitout him having to smoke. As long as you dont be stoned all of the time there wouldnt be a problem, wont there? Its just a matter of thinking about each other. And when youre stoned he can take care of you if something weird happens.

Just go and have yourself lots of fun, a nice sinterklaas and twoo wonderful christmas days. :) Together

You misunderstand I want him to go, he says no, I told him there is more to so then coffeeshops. He is the one who won't go. I have been married to this man for 25 years and he is my best friend I would love to have him there.
