Holy shit i think about the same shit. When i die, sure my brother and friends will remember me, and maybe there kids, but what happens after they die though? Sure they'll see pictures, but they wont know what type of person i was. I dont beleive in heaven/hell either. I think theres some higher being, but no god-no heaven. Religion just comforts people when they think about dieing/death. If not they would be feeling the same way we do right now. If people thought about life as having no meaning they would be depressed alot, so they just get in there heads that theres a heaven & god and it will be so nice when you die. I think if we were brought up knowing there is no god and that death is just a part of life, dieing wouldnt seem as scary.(maybe) I think you should just try and be happy every day and enjoy life. After all thats what we all want to be.

If those thoughts are really bothering you, of course you could always talk to a councilor, psychologist, or even perhaps your parents (someone whose opinion you trust that also knows you well). Don't go looking for pills, though! Self -diagnosing is one thing, self-medication is another... for one thing, no pill is going to fix you on its own and I'm sure you'd probably like to stop taking them at some point. For another, if you don't know what it is you're getting and don't have someone that even knows you're taking them, you could get yourself in trouble. Anti-depressants can sometimes really mess with your head, as many many people can attest to.

Alright, warnings out of the way.... you should really look into the symptoms of depression if you haven't already. Everyone thinks about the things you mentioned, it's when those thoughts get in the way of you living your life that you want to do something about it.

    Hey dude,
I'm depressed too, you should go see a doctor, he'll send you to a professional who can help you. I did and I'm in a therapy group now with other people like me! Don't take pills! They only kill the pain, not the cause and it'll be hard to live without em one day..
    Take care :)

Well, if this is all we get than have fun with it. And if your concerned about being forgotten than make the most of your life and strive to make some major contribution to mankind. Look at history now, some people in histroy lived 3000 years ago and we still know about them because of the greatness they acheived in human history. Then look to modern times, we still have people who will never be forgeten. Look at Neal Armstrong, he'll never be forgoten. Look at Einstein, Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Babe Ruth. All from vastly different fields and all will be remembered because they made a difference, be it science, sports, humanitarianism, etc. Everyone has the potential if they just set their mind to it and do something that matters. If you want to see paradise, than just look around and make it that way. Leave your foot print with those of legands.

I used to be like that when I was around 10 years old i still am now sometimes. I totally get where you're coming from, as im on the same wavelength. I was worse when I was ten, like I always used to cry all the time and just think about everyone dying but now I'm not as bad so you may snap out of it too, not fully as I sometimes still think like that but not as much I mean. My brother took prozac for depression and they made him really ill like severe vomitting in the first few days and then he sortof stopped bene depressed and he met with a councilor every week and then after a few months he didn't take the pills as often etc and now he's off them, however I don't thikn they do a whole lot of good as when he was on them he sometmies suffered hallucinations and had really bad nightmares about death nad stuff and like someone else said they only stop you tihnking about something that will eventually come back when you come off them. But my brother is alot happire now than he was three years ago and he copes.

I also read somewhere that depression pills can cause damage later on in life. But you're best bet is to find someone who you feel can understand you and tell them how you feel as if you discuss your worrys you sometimes feel better as you get someone elses perspective on it. Or you can go to the doctor and tell him/her about how you're feeling and they'll refer you to a specialist such as a councillor or psychologist and then you can talk to them etc. But just be happy and enjoy your life as if you spend the rest of your life worrying about death it'll be a waste of like 70 years you can spend making the most of it from now on. Do what you want to do and try make an impact. I know it's not that simple as I still feel down in the dumps somedays but concentrate on the positive aspects of your lives and your families, look at the tihngs you've enjoyed and how you can enjoy it even more.
If you want your futue generations to remeber you try keeping a scrap book where you can like write stuff down and stick photos in and stuff in from your life that can be handed down and they can look at it in like 150 years time and be like "Wow he was cool" or sometihng.

sorry I haven't been the best of help but I wish you all the best.
