ok, as i type this, she is grabbing the keyboard and attempting to put it in her mouth! leane will seriously try to eat ANYTHING that is put in her hands...including her fists....i don't know how she shoves that whole thing in there. Just wanted to share that, I thought that it was cute!
my sons almost 4 monthes and he stickes his tongue outr for everything, and he tries to eat books when you read to him, i'm starting to think his hands are different flavors he prefers one over the other... they're just so cute with they're hands shoved in their mouth all day long
so sweet. i love the cross-eye look of concentration as they're dragging things toward their mouths...
All babies do this, It is so cute. When Sage was a baby, she was grabbing everything at the dining room table one day at dinner. I used to "channel" her, making a baby voice, to interpret what she might be saying (I do the same thing for our dogs, they all have their own voices, I need help ) Anyway, Sage was doingthat grabbing thing at dinner, and I "channeled" her baby voice saying, "I WANT.........EVERYTHING." and everyone laughed. So, our family always says this when babies are at this stage. Babies have small hands and big mouths for their size, as well as no teeth. They can get their entire fists into their mouths. It is amazing. The mouth yields so much information for them, shape, texture, taste, temperature, size, it is almost like seeing AND feeling at the same time. My kids would, at this age, suck on my breast, and then pop off and STARE at it, then suck some more, and pop off and STARE at it again. I think they were trying to make sense of the shape of breast IN their mouths as opposed to how it felt IN their mouths, they did this with toys, too. I like when they do that "3-D" thing with toys. They turn it over in their hands, and freak on how it changes as it moves. WOW, 3-D, dude. My dh used to joke that "being a baby must be like tripping on acid all the time. Everything is totally amazing, like you've seen it for the very first time." (he needs help, too, LOL!!!!) There is a teether which has nubs with different textures on each. The baby is gaining information while they play with the thing in their mouths. I'll see if I can find it online for you. A cool toy for "mouthy" age babies.
yeah, i read that their mouths are their first real way of interacting and discovering their world, their most sensitive, well, sense. and it lasts until they're over a year old.
