Hey just watched this movie last night i thought it was awsome! The main character Brian Slade is based on david bowie its really cool. anyone seen it? let me know what u think. if u havnt u gotta check it out. tata
It's fab! Initially I watched it just because Placebo are in it (and I lurve them), but you can't help but get caught up in all the glamur and glitter and music of it all. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Brian) is a truly beautiful man!
the thing i don't like about VG is way it mixes fact with fiction. there is clearly a bowie character and an iggy character. there are also a lot of others from the time, such as the wife and girlfriend of mr. (almost) bowie. the film misrepresents the original glam pioneers by using their images faithfully but completely twisting their personalities. it would have been better to come up with an entirely original story, instead of a poorly disguised version of the true one. if you don't know about iggy and ziggy, then you won't judge it as i do, but don't think you are getting a history lesson about those guys. to its credit, it does capture the look and the sound of the era nicely. *go glam!*
