You know how short-lived Good Charlotte is going to be when you compare them to the legends of the sixties and seventies, artists like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and the rest? That's easy, there is absolutely no comparison. Good Charolotte won't even be around in the next ten years, let alone thirty or forty years. Most people won't even remember them, which is good. You can take that to the bank.

Yeah...okay.....the Beatles didn't change everyone's expectations of Rock? Didn't revolutionize Rock and Roll Music?

....then why are they still so popular, even though it was forty years ago and two of them are dead? Why do they repeatedly top lists of Greatest Albums Ever Released? Why are there massive Beatle conventions and Liverpool's "Beatle Week" ?

As for Michael Jackson, he essentially stole the Lennon/McCartney catalogue and defiled it. Paul wanted the rights to his songs, but couldn't afford to buy them back.

And now the Beatle Catalogue is worth 500 Million. 500 Million dollars.......yeah, must be shit, huh?

Who would spend 40 million on Good Charlotte's catalogue, eh?

    No One.

If the Beatles weren't so great, would people still be talking about them, defending them to people like you, 40-some years later?? If they weren't so great I wouldn't be defending them. I don't care that they broke up 18 years before I was born (The Beatles Officially broke up in April of 1970, I was born March of 1988), their music is still as wonderful and ground-breaking and amazing as it was when my mother was a child.

Good Charlotte? Not so much. When my future kids ask about music I liked when I was young, I will say these great sixties bands, and hope they don't find out I unfortunately lived at a time when good music was shunned in favor of crap.

I never really like them. I mean, not to be rude or anything but to me they seem to be pop. I don't know why so many gc fans take offense to that, they have their opinion, we have ours. Not like it's a terrible thing to be a pop artist...

i admit, they're not your textbook "punk" but i think theyre good. there one of the few that have actually proven they can grow. most of the punk bands i hear whine about breakups, and shit like that, but GC has shown they can adapt, and sing about whats happening around them, in the world rather than singing the same old love song 50 different ways.

If Good Charlotte are punk, they're the kind of sell-out punk that appears on CD-UK (A kid's show). Not my cup of tea, but neither is nearly all of today's popular stuff. Although GC are hardly popular, I couldn't tell you one person I know who doesn't hate 'em [IMG]

    Exactly...they're sell-outs.

Actually, in order to sell out you have to be good in the first place...and they were never good...

I'm sensing a lot of prepubescent rage here.

Do you need to yell and slander to get your point across? One would think if the music were really that mind-expandingly good, it could speak for itself.

However I don't know one person who considers Good Charlotte anything remotely near talented. The subject of the thread was "What do you think about Good Charlotte?"

Oh, pardon, it was "What u think ofGood Charlotte"
I'm going to assume English is not your first language, dear.

You asked (If I am, in fact, intepreting correctly) what we think of Good Charlotte. I think you've gotten your answer pretty clearly. Most people here do not think Good Charlotte has anything original, exciting, or anywhere near remotely interesting. I'm sorry if that goes against your brainwashed-by-the-pop-music-machine ideals, but you asked for opinions, we gave you opinions.

I don't really care how many prepubescent girls scream and claw at their faces for boys who dress as food products and have a sound that is a dime a dozen. I'm not jealous, I just don't care. I hold my music to higher standards lyrically and instrumentally, and I won't apologize for being a fan of real talent as opposed to a flash in the pan pop scene.
