I am a hippie who doesnt drink or do drugs, and am gearing up for the colorado nationals in july. I have never been, but it sounds fun. Anyways, the food is pot free right? Its a funny question i know, I just want to not be eating some food and then realize its laced with pot. In more general terms, what kind of food is there? Is their vegan food? Pizza? pasta? Any non alcoholic beverages?
main circle is usually served vegetarian, food that does have pot in it is always giving with the advice it has pot in it. the alcohol usually is left in the parking lot. you will find there are a lot of vegan kitchens around, you should find one you like and plug in. lots of pasta, some pizza, other good foods and creations. the only way to describe it is to experience it.
No, the food is not laced with pot. Basically speaking 10,000's of meals are served and it would be way too expensive, besides being unkind. It is mainly simple vegan food; beans, vegetable and rice. Some of the big pots of stew contain dairy, as in a big pot of mac and cheese. A lot of bread is baked, so there are rolls and pizza. There is some pasta, mostly noodles in the various soups. Sometimes there are great big salads, or garlic baked potatoes, or scones, or popcorn, or ice cream for kids, or other surprises. There are also kitchens that serve meat and eggs, tho that is mainly in the parking lot area. Kickapoo kitchen and kiddie village serve some meat or fish occasionally in the main gathering. There is usually a raw food vegan kitchen, which serves soaked sproats, raisins and sunflower seeds. The main beverages are coffee, tea and chai. I think the best food is served in the Krishna camps, which are also very clean camps, especially Simply Wonderful kitchen tho there is sometimes a long line, whereas Haribol krishna camp is very good and very fast. Kiddie village serves very good food but the line is very slow. The Christian camps are ok, Bread of Life is nice. Rainbow Crystal camp serves a lot of food and it is spicy, once in awhile Gary cooks for Rainbow Crystal and then it is the best. Other good kitchens in my opinion are Instant Soup, Magic Bowl, Turtle Soup. Some food sucks, burnt rice or undercooked potatoes. There are many more kitchens, sometimes they aren't run as well, and there is a small chance you will get slightly ill if you're sensitive, but i can eat anything so i'm not a good source of information for a kichen you might want to avoid. Some of the kitchens look a little sloppy, or the kitchen help may look like they should wash-up more often. You should carry your own bowl and spoon with you.
this might be a good place for this question. Anyone who was at New Mexico in 95, do you remember the Handcake man? (and Smiles, his helper) His other name was Steps- something (Steps Ironic?) and he had a medium sized grey-white pup named Good Energy. He made hand cakes, pancakes with whatever came to hand in them: broccoli, apples, whatever one had to add.
it would be wise to not put stuff down that is not true kiddie village is a vegetarian kitchen they do not serve any meat

Maybe it was a connection with Felipe but some native americans anyway didnt seem to mind us being there. it was a good gathering... love and light joy
