ok, Ill start off by sayin I think its way wrong to intentionally trip your pets. that bein said, had a shroom tea party a long time ago when my dog was a pup (hes 10 now), we caught him and one of his siblings cleaning out the dregs from the bottom of a bunch of ups that were left on the floor. We were a little freaked out at first, but they had a blast. they even disappeared into the gravel pits behind the house for a few hours, and returned covered from heap to toe in mud and happier than a hippie hithhiker picked up by phil lesh. My dog is pretty dam smart, so I dont think it hurt him in any way, who knows, maybe it helped.

why is it wrong? do you really think animals think like us?? do you really think they are as stupid as humans??? do they live in a controled society?? hek no... As far as Im conderned, cats are an animal very enlightened.. people who astral travel always report seeing their cats also in the astral plane... Their mind is much more expanded than ours... I bet after taking LSD theyll just be like : yea whatever

dogs will die if they lick the bufo alvarius toad, but humans will trip when they ingest it's venom.

wouldn't cows trip when they graze fields, accidently munching mushrooms as they go?

The live-action Disney movie "The Bear" has a bear eating some kind of psychdelic mushroom in the woods. The bear sees lots of colors and patterns then starts chasing butterflies around.

I saw that movie in biology. I think its just called "Bear." That part made me geek hardcore.

So what if animals do psychedelics? We're animals too you know. What makes you think natural psychedelics were meant for just one species?

Wrong. Dogs and humans both get very sick/die if they lick the toad. The reason why humans smoke it at high temperatures is that the heat destroys the bufotenin, and keeps the 5meodmt.

I saw this show on Animal Planet called "Animals Behaving Badly",and there was this animal they showed that gently bites the head of this certain kind of cenipeede(sp?) and it releases some kind of chemical that cause the animal to trip/freakout.It's crazy! The animal rubs it all over it's self.

You gotta see thsi show! They also showed these little monkey thingy's that like to get drunk!LOL!They get all fucked up and start knocking things over and then they fight each other.:D

Nahh thanks for reviving this thread i found it really interesting. I belive that since animals are beings like us that they should be able to take drugs if they want. Just give them a small dose, and see if they come back for more. The cheese idea is great!

Please do not dose animals. It's wrong. It's morally wrong. If an animal in the wild consumes a hallucinogen on it's own is a very different situation all together. Bears often eat psliocybin mushrooms and I know for a fact mule deer love cannabis.Yeah sure some species of animals do get high intentionally. Lemurs rub chemicals from centipedes as mentioned earlier in this thread.Cats love Catnip. Jaguars often eat hallucinogenic plants as well. Why do think they were so sacred to native american peoples. It's definetly one reason.Cats share 66 % genetic similarities with humans. This is more than any other animal after apes and all other primates.I have noticed pet cats which were drawn to the marijuana as well though.

Well, I've seen a lot of reports of animals getting intoxicated on different things, there was one really good report but I can't find it again, Anyways deer and rabbits search for psychoactive fungi and Gorillas are known to chew the Iboga root. So who knows. Intoxication is believed to be a Universal 4th drive though. And maybe some of the foods they eat intoxicate them but not us

I didn't know lowland gorillas chewed iboga root. That is very interesting.I guess It might have similar effects that humans obtain from it.Intoxication is demonized in western societies other than tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine. I have to agree that there is a strong drive to alter one's consciousness none the less.Perhaps there are plants which intoxicate them and not us as well. You are very deep thinker Ganja Guru. You deserve a good college education that is for certain.I wasn't as deep of a thinker as you are at seventeen. I have to admit that.Good luck to you.

Thanks for the iboga link.Very interesting info there.I would have never guessed in a million years that gorillas would be consuming etheogenic plants.I guess I should have known considering chimpazees sometimes search for plants that help them get rid of worms or with other digestive problems.I would have to say the ape family is a very curious one indeed. They're are even more like us then I could have ever imagined on my own.

I keep insects (spiders, butterflies, moths, and many, many bees), and I regularly blow my psychedelic hits into their jars.

Some act strange, some don't move much, but I imagine they're tripping.
It's not very legitimate research because I have yet to research if these insects even have the capacity to experience psychedelics.

If the animal comes back for more... it likes it! :D If not, let it be.
    Animals on psychadelics..

I think cows are on shrooms, always. Which explains why they are so sketchy and got saucer eyes!
Which reminds me, I had made some shroom tea the other night, and went over to my buddies farm... I ended up tripping out to the little baby cows, stuck my hand in his mouth and he just sucked on my hand... What an awesome feeling hahaa. But then this chick told me the cow could probably swallow my hand.... Way to kill my trip :(
