The editors that ran the cartoons. Free speech for free people. You can never let them burn one book not even one. I have read many hateful things in my life but I have never questioned anyone’s right to publish them.
maybe I'm jaded, no, probably I'm jaded on this, but an ed knows that a tasteless cartoon will get reaction, even if it is as delayed as that was!
Yeah the protest was actually today, and I met her. She is so down to earth so nice! She just walked right up and talked to us and shook our hand. Then she came and stood by my friedn and I while we held signs by the street and she was like "So how many people have flipped you guys the bird?" She said we should probably keep a journal of our protests so if we are ever drafted we can present that to them and show we really don't want to fight.
I'm for the cartoon. My house will probably be firebombed tonight for saying so. Our press have not printed the cartoons for fear of a muslim backlash and I think they are probably doing the right thing by not stirring up more trouble but..... In a recent poll in London 1 in 5 muslims supports the 7/7 bombings. 40% of them believe Britain should be under religious law which means people can be stoned to death or have limbs removed for using anti religious slogans (ie anti muslim). Now I might be stupid but how can cartoons be bad but that be ok. The muslims say it should be like it is in the middle east. I think if it was so bloody good in the middle east why have you moved (or live, for those muslims born here) to Britain. Go to the middle east. Set up home and enjoy your religious law there. The BNP in the UK are an extreme right party and they are going to print the cartoons in a leaflet campaign under the premise it is their democratic right to. They say how can it be bad to show the cartoons but ok to show banners in the centre of London endorsing the killing of non-muslims.
the BNP are fascists wanks, dont go quotin them... and wheres your source for this poll, as i aint heard about it.... souds like BS to me..
I'm not saying the bnp are right, never would as they as you say are scum but sometimes even scum has a point. The point being why shouldn't we as human beings be allowed to see a cartoon if we wish to see it. Why are the muslims dictating things over here in the UK with their marches. Trafalgar Square was blocked last weekend for the second time in a fortnight because of their pointless rallies. Normal tourists and people wanting to visit trafalgar square were turned away. Its wrong. As for the poll it was on Sky News but I can't remember who carried it out. It was basically taken during the rallies in Trafalgar Square.
i know i might be the only one but iv nvr actualy seen the cartoon do you have a link where i could read it or something?
I happen to think the muslims were looking for any reason for a backlash. I bet before september 11th and before everything kicked off nothing would have been mentioned about such a cartoon. The extremists have found a way of getting all the other muslims on board which is what they were hoping for. Its bollocks..... if I get a copy of the cartoon I'm going to reprint it on my website.
After a lot of searching I've found it people.... here is a link to the cartoon images that are so offensive to muslims. http://cryptome.org/muhammad.htm Can anyone see anything that bad in there? I can't.
are you seriuse? thats what made such a big fuss? i hear more ofensive stuff on a daily basis, that doesn't look like i hate muslims cartoons, they are like hey watch me poke fun at them like i will some other culture next week.
More to the point on this one.... The cartoons were printed originally in a Danish newspaper. Denmark has a population of about 5 million. Approximately 2% of Denmark's population are muslims. 100000 people. So in a country with a huge majority of non-muslims a newspaper happens to print a cartoon which they think will be amusing. A bit like when our newspapers take the piss out of everyone and I mean everyone. I wonder how many of the 100000 muslims in Denmark actually saw the cartoon. Probably not that many. So we have this huge fuss about a Dane printing a cartoon in their own country which is 98% non-muslim. Its not like the guy who made the cartoon walked through the middle of a mosque in Iran with a tshirt on with the words "Mohammed is a CNUT" (note the deliberate bad spelling). Over here in the UK at music festivals you will quite often see some people wearing tshirts with the slogan Jesus is a CNUT. Some older folk and christians would definitely find this offensive but they are yet to be banned. Because however these tshirts are confined to the sort of people that wouldn't find the t-shirt offensive noone is bothered. My point being that in a country where there are barely any muslims a cartoon has been printed which is not even that provocative and it has caused riots and protests around the world. I wonder how many of the people in Trafalgar Square in the last two weeks (the demonstrators) have seen the cartoons. I bet there are newspapers in the middle east that have printed cartoons that we could find easily offensive. This whole thing is a clear case of muslims trying to stoke up trouble from whatever source they can.
