Who do you fear most? Terrorists or our own government? A friend and I were discussing this topic the other day so thought I would throw it out here. Personally, I fear my own government more. I fear that because of my own government, terrorists are a bigger threat now than they ever were before. I fear my own governments intrusion into my private life. I fear the underhanded way in which they are slowly chipping away at my own freedoms and rights. I fear their arrogant bully attitude around the globe. I fear the way they are slowly beginning to control all the medias and what gets out to the public. I fear their ability to manipulate our so called free elections. I fear they way they are letting religion and politics begin to mix together. I fear the way the use FEAR to control and brainwash. Lots of reasons to fear my own government. How do we overcome these fears?

Right now I'm too unimportant to really fear that either the government or the terrorists give a shit about me specifically, so I don't have any fears that are very personal. I do think both the Bush admin and the terrorists are pretty nasty groups and I loathe the religious right, and none of them bode too well for the country. For now I'd just as soon chill and not get too paranoid that I'm afraid to do anything.

I fear neither. What is to be afraid of? My freedoms aren't being taken away by my government. Bush isn't forcing me to do things I don't want too. When the terrorists attack us again(I believe they will) I will not give those evil bastards the joy of seeing me afraid. I am faithful in my Lord. If it is my time to go, then I am ready. In the end, it will not be their decision, it will be God's.

Neither. Like RA said, my freedoms aren't being taken away, and realistically speaking, I personally am not in much more danger of being killed by a terrorist than I was on September 10th.

hm...well, there's a lot more government than terrorists, and governments are so muc hmore unpredictable anymore. (i'm being flippant.) i haven't actually personally had any trouble with either. i'm not prone to scaredy-catness either. i grew up with two older brothers. i'm still more afraid of them than i am of any terrorist.

Neither. Don't fear terrorists or the government. Fear is what gives evil it's power. Whenever you get scared over these things you are playing into their hands. And I don't think that there is much fear of terrorists right now. Any "terrorist attacks" will be government agents, not terrorists.

Anyway, it's not the government's decision what happens to us. They think they control what ahppens, just as the global elite who control the planet think they control the planet (lol). But there is a much bigger power with a much bigger plan for this earth and all it's inhabitants than all these puny politicians trying to become king of the hill.

i am not scared of either, fuck em both, but I am more worried about the government doing something than some foreign terrorists. Terrorist actions can be seen in advance, when the govt can move around all they want without being noticed.

What I fear is the the government making bad decisions, such as the war in Iraq, that fuel the fires of terrorist groups and make them more active.

I do not per se fear either the government and/or terrorists in what will happen in my life, I do not live afraid, however I do fear that we are not taking the right measures to promote international peace.

I don't fear either. If you fear terror before an actual attack, then an attack is almost pointless because they've already got their point across. People say that by being afraid of them they acheived their goal, that is untrue. They wish for our death, but the know they cannot kill us all so disrupting our lives is the next best thing. By being afraid and not doing the things you would normally do or visit the places you would normally visit is giving them satisfaction. Is that what you want to give them? The people who want to kill you, your family, and your friends. Do you want to lay down without a fight? Fuck that.

I do not fear the government either. I am somewhat skeptical of bending constitutional rights but I am in no way afraid. The number one priority for the government is to prevent further terrorist attacks. One hates to say that aspects of the Patriot Act are necessary, but what are the alternatives??? I live my life how I live my life. Life is too short to be afraid of boogeymen.

i think i'm most afraid of postal workers, still. i've yet to have a postal carrier that wasn't off the deep end and enclined towards rage. they're government workers. i think they're the secret police of the government.

Neither. The government SHOULD and COULD be a line of defense against the real enemy: the private sector. If you don't believe me, note that all spam comes from the private sector :)

Even drunk drivers, a class to which George W. Bush himself belongs, kill drastically more people than terrorism.

I'm extremely concerned about Bush's power grab, but I'm reluctant to call that thug's methods a form of "government." It's real, like a bee sting is real. But neither a bee sting nor George W. Bush are comparable to what we Americans have traditionally called "government."
