anyone read anything by him? I finished a game of thrones and i thought it was superb..cant wait to start a clash of kings
George RR is my number two man for fantasy books (that's still writing, at least), only outdone by Mr. Jordan. The A Song of Ice and Fire series is most excellent. I haven't gotten my hands on his new one (A Feast of Crows), it's still circulating amongst my friends and hasn't made its way to me yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting doing so.
the malazan book of the fallen series is most excellent! I like Jordan more because of sheer scale as well as the world he created... and I like George RR Martin more because he has guts and does what pretty much no other author will (can't give it away if you've only read the first book), but Erikson is good, although not many in the US know of him... haven't figured out why, but he's rather huge in the UK....
GRRM is fantastic. I've read every book in the series, so far, and I plan to keep on reading them - right after they come out. I've never gotten so into a series. He's one of the few authors who doesn't mind killing off everyone's favorite characters. I like that. A lot. It leaves me on the edge of my seat. Will Tyrion die? Cersei? Arya? I never know!
I read the first one which I loved, although it was very gritty and realistic (I'm a bit fluffy!) but I don't want to read the rest until the whole series is finished.
tuff voyaging, my favorite of his. havn't read the ice and fire ones yet. wild cards were ok but not the magnuim opus as far as i'm concerned so many consider them. first discouvered him in the early 70s story sand kings. =^^= .../\...
He is Awesome. & so is the ice & fire whateverogy. I read the first three books after A storm of swords came out. I never like waiting for new books to come out in a series so I ususally don't start them until they are done. When I finished that book & realized there was no possible way it was a trilogy & I was going to have to wait for the fourth, fifth & sixth books I was disappointed. At least the span of years between the third & fourth books made it tolerable. So I waited & waited & waited & thought is this guy gonna have a coronary before he finishes these books? Finally the fourth book came out, but I'm not running to the bookstore yet. With his world record for slowest author I am definately waiting for him to finish the series for sure. I do appreciate the time he is taking in getting everything just right. It must be an awesome undertaking to write a story this complex and superb. I would say this series may even live up to Tolkien - okay, I know I'm gonna get flack for that!
