Does anyone have suggestions to where to visit in Italy?

I plan on going in May, and was looking for some cool towns with history and nice dining.

Rome!! :D It's an amazing city, you can't go to Italy without visiting Rome. Venice is really nice too although sometimes it smells bad there. :p

I hear Florence is great aswell although I've only been to Venice which is well worth a visit. Just don't get a gondola, to fucking expensive.

If you're interested in ancient history, Italy is an amazing place to visit. You can also try to travel through Tuscany...lots of Etruscan tombs and probably some of the best food in the world! I would give anything to be able to live there.

otherwise, I reckon, Bologna one of my favourite italian cities.

ya, anyway, everyone's got his/her own tastes...

I heard Bolognia is actuallly a College town......with lots of pickpocketers, and my friend who studied abroad there said that she got punched in the face by a 12 year old boy!

But I am definetly going to rome for three days and then i need another 4 days to fill!

If you are an artist...or an art nut, you have to see Florence.

Been there 3 March breaks. Gotta go back!!! Pisa is a nice little town as well & the train from Pisa to Florence is a beautiful trip.

Landing in Milan ? Good train ride too. Prato is beautiful!

well, I live in Bologna and it's absolutely beautful. there's always something to do, it's full of young students from every Italian city. there are not more pickpocketers than in all other cities. Go to Naples, in the Spanish part of the city, and you're lucky if they left your underwear on! In Bologna, there are only three places where you have to wach out you're pocket: at Pilastro (and you have no interest on going there, there's nothing), near the train station and near the University. This is where you can find some hash (in Bologna, but we have the same situation in other cities, you can find easily only hash. there's not a lot of weed) and where a big part of pickpocketers stay.
Florence it's surely beautiful but it's filled with shops, gucci, armani, bulgari, etc... there're too many tourists and it's really expensive.

Cinque terre is not a town, its a some km. long rocky coastline with about 5 towns on it in the north of Italy (the side next to France).
