i know alot of vegetarians eat eggs...i personally don't get it, i mean, technically, it is meat, which is why i don't eat eggs. Thinks about it, its a fetus, basicaly, its a prematured bird you're eating...would you eat the eggs of a cow if it layed eggs? its basically the exact same thing...

    so, do you eat eggs?

Technically, it is NOT meat. Meat is a pattern if sinew and muscle, often times with fat, with a specific type of cell structure. An unfertilized egg contains protein and nutrients for an organism to develop. They are two very different things. Just as you wouldn't call sperm "meat," you wouldn't call a chicken egg "meat."

Only fertilized eggs are fetuses, and I highly doubt that anyone (except perhaps a handful of deranged people across the globe) eats fertilized eggs, and it's probably illegal to even sell them.

Regardless, what drives some vegetarians and vegans to not eat eggs is the cruelty that chickens suffer in order to GET the eggs. This is the primary reason I don't eat eggs. I wouldn't eat them even if this weren't so, for health reasons.

    i'm vegan so i don't eat eggs...
But i do have a specific view on this... I think it's cruel to have chickens cooped up and shot up with hormones, the conditions are just disgusting and horrible for the chickens...
now... if i had chickens as pets and they layed eggs, i would eat them ocasionally... i see it as if they were giving me eggs in exchange for shelter, food and love...
I wouldn't have them for that purpose, they would be trully free... same as if i had a cow, if it gave me milk i would drink it... but they would be happy, not destined to the slaughterhouse or mistreated like most dairy cow are.

I loved eggs earlier. And now has weaned from them, from all animal products, here only sometimes it would be desirable some milk. I to the TV saw today that again birds to hurtbe ill begin. So I think that now is to any does not follow. And still heard that in some places have now forbidden house birds to let out on street (probably that were not ill with this illness)

I used to eat eggs before I and just after I became a vegitarian...but as time went on, they started making me sick. I'll feel physically ill and probably throw up if I eat eggs now, same goes for all meats too

Even though I stopped eating meat a couple years back, I still eat ORGANIC (+free-range, +veggie-fed) eggs, only on occasion. My problem with meat is really in the INDUSTRY of it, and my problem with eggs is with the torture most chickens go through. If I buy from reputable farms, where I know the chickens are treated well, it's not so bad.

On very rare occasions I also eat free-range salmon (only from low-mercury areas, this is hard to come by!). Really, my reasons for eating eggs and salmon are the same - I have a low-level diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, which requires me to ingest a high-protein diet as much as I can. The protein problem in itself isn't enough to do it, since I should still be able to do tofu, beans, etc., but the PCOS has also caused some other problems for me which I've found have only been helped when I boost my intake of omega 3 fatty acids.

I really am healthier when I eat my eggs, though. Just food for thought!

Do you try Flax Seed? I grind up flax seed for Omega 3 Fatty Acids.

Eggs. ew. I didn't like them when I wasn't veggie. i couldn't stand to look at them.

I still eat eggs. Even if I stopped eating omlettes and stuff, I'd never give up mayonaise and the eggless mayonaise is horrible.

As was said before, the egg isn't an embryo or a fetus or a creature of any kind, what an egg contains is a gamete; a sex cell like a sperm or an ovum. An unfertilised egg is a chicken's period.

    Would I eat a human's period? I think I might've done. I'm afraid I was very drunk:confused:

The basic point is not what it is, its what the hens are subjected to.

Yeah... I was just correcting the inaccuracy of calling it an "embryo".

even if i had "pet" chickens or chickens that i personally cared for well i still wouldnt feel comfortable eating their eggs. to me taking a chicken's egg is nothing less than stealing. the chicken may not mind but even if that was the case id really have no way of knowing so id rather give the benefit of the doubt and assume the chicken wouldnt like it.......i dont need eggs to survive on earth so its really not much of an issue anyway.
