"just live" doesn't really mean a lot, though. HOW to live? It's not that I disagree with the original post here; we do overthink, we have too many rules (no drawings of the prophet, no work on sunday, don't eat this, don't say that...). Many of the rules are pretty useless and are obvious. But what about casual sex? Is it ok if both sides consent? Or divorce? Even if both of these things tear society apart? (it's easily argued that the breakdown of the family, the core unit of society, is a major problem).

So, while I'm an advocate of a more natural, flows-from-within sort of spirituality/lifestyle...these sorts of issues are unavoidable. You HAVE to think about them. Am I suggesting a mandated moral law? Hell no. But there are questions, questions that can't just be answered with "if it feels good do it".

Talk is cheap. When the situation is faced, act. When the situation has ceased, flow on.

That sounds simple enough, yet we all know it can be so complex.

Just don't over-think, over-analyze. There are many 'tough' issues taking root in our society. What must be asked first is not: "How do we fix these, and thus how do we live?" It is: "Why do we have these issues in the first place? Why have they taken root in our society?" Since society is us, and we are society, we must look into ourselves.

But it seems we are more comfortable taking the "hero" stance and 'campaigning' against abortion, against the dissolution of family, against the decay of tradition, etc. The core stems from us. Perhaps we are poisoned . . . And this wicked fruit, our tainted blossoming.

That one rule is pretty good for most anything.
'Do not do unto others that which you do not want done unto you.' Rabbi Hillel
That is another great one. Those two rules are nearly all one needs.
'Time wasted on purpose is not time wasted.' John Lennon
Nobody lying on their deathbed ever said, 'I wish I would have spent more time working.'

Everything having to do with something that we've never even seen before is useless!!! Take For Example, GOD!!!!!
