no way would i do bonnaroo again, it was too crowded to see any of the bands I wanted to see without some drunk frat boy spilling something on me or some wanna be drug dealer trying to force me to buy shards or something, smaller festivals are where it's at.

Yea there are lots of drugs and shitheads, it's not like anyone can deny that. The scene is filled with drugs, has been the way the scene is since the 60s, and I prefer the openness with drugs, however I don't promote going JUST for the drugs. There are plenty here, no need to go to tennessee just for that heh. The shitheads came later though lol. I got kicked in the face during trey's set by a drunk, and on the topic of wannabe drug dealers, this kid tried to sell me pressed pills, and I swear I thought he was going to start a fight with me cause I told him I don't buy that garbage, considering I can get em at home for cheaper than anyone there could possibly sling em for... he like, tried to tell me they were so bomb and when i refuted my answer of negative, he like nudged me with his shoulder as he walked away... too bad I didn't have a baseball bat to knock out that arrogant piece of shit, and dump his body in the shallow water we were next to. I just went back to railing molly on the side of the path though rofl. My friends got bunked on fake opium (i told them it was fake, but they didn't believe me) and the boomers they got from the same guy ended up being inactive, although they sure looked real. Then you got the really shady older dudes slinging L who try to rip you off cause they think they can, then you laugh at them when they say 7 dollars a hit cause everybody and their mother's peddling light for 5 a square, 3 for a sheet. It all just adds to the experience IMO.

The full line up isnt even up yet the only thing in my eyes that Bonnaroo does not have is Yonder Mountain Sting Band......and that is because they are playing at a blugrass festival in colorado...(I'm pretty sure) BUT THATS OK BECAUSE IM GOING TO WAKARUSA AND BONNAROO......A TWO WEEK ROAD TRIP FUCK YEA!........

And the full line-up isnt even up yet!AND ITS STILLLLLLL GREEEEEEEEEEEAT

Remember a few posts back when I said my friends at bonnaroo got on my nerves last year because they kept complaining and whining a lot? Well, you guys are starting to sound just like them!

Any show is what you make of it, and not everyone is going to rub you the right way all of the time. You are always going to have to take the good with the bad. If you are there for the music just try to ignore everything going on around you and enjoy the music. If you are there for the whole experience, then experience it. If you are there to sell drugs, well business follows the market. There is definately a good market for peddlars there!

I go for the whole experience and I actually enjoy the variety of people and how they interact in that unique festival society. I also love the music, but realize it can be hard to enjoy it when the person standing next to you is complaining about the price or quality of the weed they just bought, or how far they have to walk between their campsite and the stages.

I actually think the line-up is looking pretty good so far. I've never seen Beck live and will be looking forward to that.

Damn are th drunkards and drug sellers really that bad at roo? I would think there would be ignorance wherever you go. Is it a safe atmosphere to even be able to enjoy some of the party favors? I enjoy nothing more than experiencing music in a very hightened state, although i will probably only do so on one of the days. I will most likly pull the big guns out only during the day to avoid confusion, and thanks for any info and adivce.

Fuck all the bonnaroo hatin! If this wasnt a hippie board I'd sure have a lot more to say, but I'll keep quiet. ;)

If you're going to a fest for the music and not the heady vibes brah! Then Bonnaroo's got waka beat.. Oysterhead, DJ Sasha, Bisco/UM latenight, Phil Lesh, Atmosphere, Beck, Damien Marley, Claypool, Matisyahu, RRFB, Steel Pulse, Mike Gordon, MMW, Clap your hands say yeah, Soulive, The Motet, Toubab Krewe, etc.

Waka has good music too: YMSB, Les, the biscuits, Greyboy Allstars, Franti, other generic jambands, Buckethead, Muytator, The Duo, BP, Lotus, etc. and thats why I'm doing both. But I think that theres no denying that Bonnaroo (keep in mind they've only had 2 sets of artist additions) is going to have a far more diverse and eclectic line-up.

I'm doin the biscuits entire summer tour as of now so I'll let all you guys who are hatin on b'roo know how insane it was seeing the biscuits rage with UM all night. Considering thats not gunna happen at HSMF, CBV, Waka or any other fest this summer. I don't care if you dont wanna be with 80,000 peeps thats understandable but the arguements about frat kids are a joke.. Langerado, fuckin wakarusa, All Good, Bonnaroo, etc. have a shit ton of frat kids cause guess what FRAT KIDS LIKED PHISH AND THEY LIKE OTHER JAMBANDS TOO!!

Just cause I have dreds doesn't mean it gives me the right to trash other people because they like beer more than music.. thats their choice and they're missin a damn good show. Same goes for the hippie kid who took too many doses next to me at SCI in Vegas this past Halloween. Kid def. went to the hostipal during one of the most mind blowing versions of Hey Pockey Way I have ever seen.

Music Festivals are supposed to be fun not a status contest. "I'm the headiest brah on lot cause I went Waka over B'roo, fuck that corporate shit." If you bought your Waka tix through musictoday your supporting the same corporation brother, but whatever stick it to the man. We all know how awful Superfly is.. its not llike Waka would exist without bonnaroo '02.

    anyways theres my rant.

beleive me, i like the open-ness of everything, but being open with drugs and having someone try to fight you because you don't want any is different. i try to make the best of everything but there is only so much arrogance and ignorance I can ignore when it is being shoved down my throat.................... I went to bonnaroo two years ago and I had a good time but some bad things are hard to ignore when they are happening to you and not just around you. It's all good to be a drunken dumb ass, just keep it in your own space..........................

The thing is I've been to all of the fests cept HSMF which this year will be my first and depending on where you are you get heckled about drugs at every fest. Shit, does anyone remember IT? Big Cypress?

This past year at Wakarusa we had some drunken piece of lot trash throw a lit cigarette into our car because my buddy told the guy politely (as we were driving in) that he didn't want his boomers or moonshine. "Naw man thanks but I'm cool" And the wasted, dreddy kids goes "Fuck You man" and tosses his lit cigarette in our car.

Bonnaroo may be a lot bigger which means more assholes, but assholes are everywhere. Our scene sucks moreso than specific festivals.

    I completely agree with funkyphresh.

Shaman: Wow, if he really did that for no fuckin reason at all, I'd have gotten out the equalizer and cracked a fuckin wookie's skull. See how they like it when I throw a lit cigarette into their nappy mess of a head, and take all their boomers and moonshine. I'm a real chill character, shit like that will push me to the edge though man. Glad I never encountered anything *that* ignorant at a fest. That's on par with what fuckin g-unit kids would pull, the type of shit I get the farthest away from mass to forget about.

I'm partially new to the hip jam band scene and Bonnaroo is going to be my first BIG festival, but the way yall talk about it makes me really doubt if i wanna go. Where i'm from the Frat guys basically are everywhere and me and my friends try to go places where they won't, but if bonnaroo is "that" place where the jerks have taking over maybe i should go somewhere else. Rusa? Langerado? But i guess jerks are going to be everywhere...

I love good music but i would much rather go see okay music with more cool, like-minded people. Peace.

Diggin' it sugarMaggie, perceptions of our area only impact our being with the filters we construct....focus and exploit the negative you experience only further its futile existence....just show some love to your neighbors at whatever fest or path your on and something new and beautiful takes its place......I'll see ya kind folk on the road soon
