You're just playing semantics. You could call the U.S. actions "REactions" on that same point.

either that or you actually think that Muslims have only acted like this since the U.S. invaded Iraq....besides, is another country's invasion a good excuse for running into an Iraqi cafe and blowing up civillians? Where is the outrage from the muslim community then, when the REAL disgrace to Islam is happening.

This whole thing is telling me that to Muslims slaughtering innocent people in the name of their religion it is not a disgrace. It is telling me that to the world's muslims some stupid disrespectful cartoon is more disgraceful than the beheading or blowing up of civillians. And then they demand we respect a belief like this?? Putting ideals before lives is something I loathe comming from any political or belief system. I am not being unfair to muslims here, I have a problem with that coming from anyone anywhere.

Now that we see that muslims across the world can band together and protest outrage for a cause, why a cartoon? Why not the beheading of journalists or the bombing of civillians? It is an honest question.

Point is, stoney is carrying on that this is happening in Syria not UAE, but if the UAE has no comment, as far as I'm concerned they're complicit.

All that is required for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

thankyou mr spokesperson, your services, not needed!

since your question was an honest one ..i'll attempt to answer,

perhaps you could start by separatin religion from all this ..the words militant, fundamentalist, extremist et al have been made synonymous by prefixin it with muslim/islamic (no christian/jewish recognitions) by your media who're obviously playin into the brainwashin of your 'cultured' politicians. it's no wonder then that you've gone on to criticise muslims (their actions and/or their inactions)

i've said this once and i'll say it again ..WE are the world community. humanity is the only thing that need be on our minds.

who be the real terrorists ? the ones who're voted in (your politicians) who go about rapin the world ..

and who's playin defensive against the offensive ? lack of leadership (mostly ruled by dictators that are supported by the above), education, freedom, employment etc etc etc with less or no hope in life. they struggle with it all with only religion as their stabilisin force which allows them to come to terms with all their challenges. they dont derive pleasure from their leaders (and their abuse of their rights) and certainly not the support these dictators receive from the leaders of the free-world (who're really workin with their own agendas)

let me also remind you, the europeans/western imperialism of the middle east was not very long back and ofcourse the memory is kept fresh with the palestinian issue (a topic within itself)

im only givin a high level snapshot here ..and avoidin the details coz that could run in pages, and derail the focus away from the bigger picture that we need to be workin on ie, survival of humanity and closin in of the gaps that seem to be gettin wider

anyway, now keep all that and the recent wars and the islamaphobia which has set in over the past four years

with religion as your only stabilisin force in it all, would you really find humour in the insult to your way of life ?

Yeah, what that amounts to is this:

Our guys, who saw the heads off people on tape, are not terrorists. How dare you say Islamic in a pejorative manner.

The real terrorists are Bush, Blair, etc.

Remember the Crusades (or some other event 50-100 years ago).

We are innocent wonderful people, and all the people who died in the Twin Towers, the Bali bombings, the London bombings, the Spanish bombings and who could have died in other Islamic terrorist attacks like the LAX bombing which was thwarted etc. well, we don't talk about that. Let's talk about how evil the Jews are instead.

    Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Reactions for what? The Iraq war? Why is it our troops target Iraqi troops and dictators, and in return terrorists bomb churches and innocent civilians. I think it's obvious who are the decent and civilised ones. If a few innocent Iraqis die from our fire we are genuinely apologetic and feel bad, but when towers and trains in Madrid and London get blown up killing thousands of innocents, then there's partying in the streets of the middle eastern countries.
And you're trying to justify that? I used to respect your opinions Stoney, you used to make a bit of sense, but you've been saying some really stupid things lately.

scroll up a bit for the "what"

i havent justified anythin or for anyone, i'd be glad to be pointed towards where/if i have

decency and civility dont come from "bein apologetic and feelin bad". partyin in the streets of middle east is based on what the media had represented, and investigations revealed it was an old clip that was played!

now this is what i call the media twists ..they do and apologise, but the effects of it remain in people's hearts and minds - so is the case with the current controversy of the cartoons ..do you get my point ?

HUMANITY folks !! THAT need be the focus, screw the rest!

the humans in this part of the world (muslims, to you) feel just as bad for the madrids, new yorks, london, chechnya, lebanon, occupied palestine, bali, iran, yemen, saudi, qatar, syria, serbia, jordan, india, pakistan, ukraine and i can keep goin on ...

it aint just about our backyards anaconda,

You're right, I didn't scroll up for the "what" my bad :). I read what you said, and you do make a lot of good points, but as you (I hope) already know, my problem is with the terrorists. I know there are some Muslims that genuinely feel bad by all the atrocities. And I know that Muslims feel angry by our politicians "raping" and trespassing in parts that they don't belong, but why do the terrorists target the innocent (I was very nearly caught up in the London bombings). I believe in peace but maybe it would be more logical to target politicians instead of innocents. Also, I know that the press do twist things, but there has to be things there to be twisted.

Stoney, here's why your attitude enrages me.

I argue with people in my country, who see only what the media shows them. I see bumper stickers literally requesting the murder of Iraqis for oil. I see people come to the conclusion that Arabs and Moslems are literally animals.

And when I try and tell them listen, man - meet some of them. I know what you mean, the whole curly shoe scimitar waving madman stereotype does exist, but you will find no more hospitable and generous host than an Arab. Islam is in MANY respects progressive, and people often ignore that in their own faiths, they are told to murder their children for disrespect, for example.

But the counter is this - why is it then that the "moderates", the human ones, the Moslems who do NOT believe in sawing someone's head off - why do they say NOTHING? Why do they sit mute, standing passively by? When George Bush attacked Iraq there were protests in the streets. Noone was killed or injured, but it was made VERY clear at least HALF of the country does NOT approve of these actions.

We see the flags on fire on the news. But we look to the more level headed countries and the more civilised Moslems and hear nothing.

So if that's the case where was the protests? The riots? A cartoon was able to make them feel bad enough to come to the streets in demonstration, but not the suicide bombings and beheadings of innocent people?

and so do we ..who does not have a problem with someone who "terrorises" ? but we cant keep a one-eyed view on it. actions invite reactions ..and as much as we may try, the fire-fightin (protests) dont work. hence why WE as humans need to make attempts to stop such things from happenin b4 they do and when they do, rather than choosin sides - stay focussed on the bigger picture of humanity, rather than the details which is where we derail. it aint about the cartoons, iraq, afghanistan, bin laden, al qaeda, taleban (bet most have already forgotten about this one!). there'll always be somethin and it'll always invite reactions and we'll feel alright to choose sides - but this is where the danger really is

i see what you're sayin. would it be better if we saw each other as humans, not necessarily muslims, christians, jews et al ?

why do the "terrorists" target the innocent ? this is an effect (reaction) gone wrong. if there were trainin centres for people who want to react to an act, i suppose it wouldda been different!

fact remains, we ALL got a problem and that aint gettin solved by talkin about why some blow themsleves up targettin the innocent and why some others blow market places, countries etc again targettin the innocent (and can have a nice press-statement with 'the unfortunate incident' 'friendly fire' line or whatever)

if we really need to address the problems we got today and the ones in store for us, we have gotta get together - and act responsibly as the tenants of this planet by rejectin the ideologies of the few that have been systematically takin us apart rather than bringin us closer

...and it would have been more logical if only saddam was taken out, bin laden was taken out !

umm actually, the way it works is ..create a story, then twist it around

see the difference is, you wont find bumper stickers callin for the death of americans, brits or aussies etc here coz the majority of humans here know that a minority there is responsible for it

stereotypes exist everywhere ..and that may very well start as 'humour', but it stays on ..!

that is the sad side of their culture, not religion. remember the arabs used to bury their new-born females alive, but the religion of islam brought teachins that forbade this practise. to put things in perspective, hindus practised sati (burnin the wife alive on her dead husbands funeral pyre) and still do in remote places ..the muslims of india, had they not had the message of islam wouldda been doin the same today (assumption? maybe - and you may dismiss it, but think it over)

to start with, there is no such thing as "moderates" ..religion or its teachins dont come like the marlboro reds, whites, ultras

"why do they say NOTHING? Why do they sit mute" coz they have been playin defensive and its gettin sick already! let me also add, the friday sermons in most parts of the world calls for a stop to such reactions, includin mecca and medina

bravo! thats coz you saw the country come together ..as humans, not as muslims or christians or jews!

and the question should be ..why do the media focus on the few burnin flags ? have they attempted to gather the thoughts of the majorities ? can the media perhaps organise for forums that would collect the thoughts of peoples, rather than re-playin the burnin flag clip 96 times a day ?!?!

innocent people are dyin everywhere and everyday

3,808 Palestinians and 1,084 Israelis have been killed since September 29, 2000.

American news reports repeatedly describe Israeli military attacks against the Palestinian population as “retaliation.” However, when one looks into the chronology of death in this conflict, the reality turns out to be quite different.

Source: The Palestine Red Crescent Society, is our source for the Palestinian deaths. (Visit their statistics page, which was last updated on February 10, 2006.) Our source for the number of Israelis killed is Israel’s military, the Israel Defense Forces. (Visit their statistics page, which was last updated on January 15, 2006.)

We are currently in the process of revising the number of Israelis killed, because we recently discovered that the IDF has slightly inflated numbers.

** The paper also reported that since 1992, 459 Israeli soldiers have committed suicide.

let's make the call today, do we want to blame each other for not protestin/demonstratin causes that are closer to each other's hearts or we protest/demonstrate together on everythin thats hurtin our planet, our people ..and they're all our people regardless of their nationality, culture, religion, colour !!!
