Just how DO you mistake a 78 year old lawyer as a small game bird? (NO it isn't the beginning of a joke, I just need to know.) Even the NRA says "The person behind the gun is responsible for what happens in front of it." Or something like that. I'll bet he didn't say anything right away, so that a blood alcohol level couldn't be done.
I think you are right, Maggie. He was probably drunk off his ass, so the Secret Service kept the police away until he sobered up. Everybody knows Cheney is a boozer. So is Bush, contrary to the rhetoric that he has sobered up.
i think they're both idiots. jeez. and it'd be covered up no matter WHICH VP did it. with people that big, these things are always fucked about, they're not treated the same as all the rest of us mere mortal hunters.
unless the guy says there was foul play, this will just be ruled an accident. There are tons of hunting relating accidents every year... Out of curiosity, are there rules against hunting drunk?
i've never personally known anyone to hunt & drink at the same time. i have no idea. 'round here you hunt drunk. i would assume that there are laws against it, there's laws against everything else a law enforcement agent would like to drum up when annoyed.
anybody remember who'se vp dan quayle was? i know this is off the wall, but when i first heard cheney shoots quail, ... i mean i knew there was a rift developing ... =^^= .../\...
What a dork, Cheney would shoot somebody while hunting. I say give him the death penalty, after all, that IS what he stands for.
In some places it is a crime to use a fire arm while intoxicated. I don't hunt, and neither does my dh, but he has some buddies who do, and when they go camping, Bear has told me that one of the guys will yell, "Did we drink enough to get the shotgun out yet?" Probably one of the reasons my dh does not hunt..... There are also some laws, in some states against leaving the scene of a hunting accident, or not reporting it immediately.
jeez, really? we have beer when we're done for the day, but when hunting colorado, it's pretty stupid to drink too much. the damage you do your body, as well as the amount of mental acuity you have to have to actually shoot a deer or elk, it would be incredibly stupid to be hungover. i can't imaging trying to get up at 4AM to hike through the dark up the side of a freaking mountain with a hangover. I'D DIE.
That is the responsible way to do it. This thing is only one of the reasons my dh doesn't hunt. He goes camping with some dudes, but stays FAR away when they break out the firearms. Foxworthy had a joke "You might be a red neck if, you have ever been too drunk to fish." I think being drunk at all while hunting is even more appropriate.
When the cops went to interview trickie dickie II after they were informed of the shooting, they were told to "come back to-morrow". What do you think would happen if you or I tried that. To me, it's obvious that fucker was drunk. And the cops were derilict for not testing him when they came out the first time. Unless vice-presidents are exempt from the law, unless it's legal to get drunk and shoot someone if you're a political vip.
