Sometimes I wonder what the world would be like if man never evolved past the stoneage. Would it be more beautiful? Do you think we are slowly destroying the earth? deforrestation, global warming, the use of toxic chemicals, nuclear weapons.... do you ever think the earth would have been better off with out us? what good have we done? How many of you recycle? Do you always put litter in the bin? Do you drive with diesel or unleaded? Do you use natural household products? Angelvision http://www.cleaningnatural.com
but who would define it as beautiful and to answer your questions, i recycle, i always put litter in the bin, i do not drive, i use eco-friendly products. yet this doesn't mean i am doing as much as i can, we all need to do more peacex
I think the world would be a whole lot better if we were still tribal type people, similar to the Native Americans.
I def. think that humanity is killing the Earth. A people that used to be completely connected to the Earth is now destroying it. We live in our houses, and eat our prepackaged food. We have lost all respect for the planet that gave us life. I believe that humans will end as a species, and the Earth will return to its prior state. We are killing the one thing that is vital to our existence. How can we not destroy ourselves? As far as "human superiority" goes... does any other species kill the Earth it needs to live on? I would say that we are the stupidest life form alive. We are ensuring our own abolition.
I voted no. Humanity is doing a lot of bad, but I cannot say the world would be better without us. We're here, and I believe this is how it's "supposed" to be. For one thing, humans could never "kill" or destroy the earth. Cause great damage, turmoil and change, yes. But the earth is huge, bigger than anything we could do. So while we may adversely affect living conditions in the biosphere, maybe for tens or hundreds of thousands of years even, that's a blink of an eye to the earth. And we aren't all bad. For tens of thousands of years, we were just another large mammal on earth, even if we did cause turmoil even then (the North American extinctions of the large mammals might be from the PaleoIndians). That happens when any species expands into new areas. Change is natural. Perhaps someday we will return to a relationship with the earth, wiser and more enlightened than before, like the Prodigal Son in the Bible. By the way, the Earth will never return to it's prior state, as it has always changed dramatically and will always continue to do so, humans or not. Also, consider that the greater part of the destruction by mankind has occurred in, say, the last 200 years. Yes, before that we'd been burning coal (since 1000 AD or so), or wood, setting grass/forest fires, logging, etc... but the worst part has been more recent. I believe that the earth, and probably humanity too, will recover from this. Smaller populations, simpler lives...this era will be the freak oddity among all human history. In the long run, I have a positive outlook. In the short run, however, I do agree things are bad and getting worse. It saddens me that I'll never be able to see the world in a more pristine state.
I don't think that. We're simply heading into another Ice Age. We survived the last one. I pray the best to survive the next.
i love you. i think humans are very influential, definitely. right now we're learning through our mistakes, so once we've made them all a few thousand times we might become a beautiful part of the planet. there are household plants that love us because we love them. there are animals we keep as pets that love us because we love them. without us, neither would have felt that kind of love. maybe someday we'll be able to love every living thing. affection between species is pretty limited. bees and flowers have a relationship almost like friendship. some cats and dogs can love eachother. but i can't think of any species besides humans that can love everything and gain everything's love back. too bad we're not doing it right now.
Man, you guys are all so negetive (looking at the poll numbers). You REALLY think the world would be better off without humans, without YOU? What keeps you going, then?
Mother works on a different time frame. Our population will flash and fade. Mother will recover from whatever we through at her. All environmental issues stem from overpopulation. Care for the environment, have fewer kids! Jim
If you look at the numbers, the average global temperature went up about 2 degrees in the past 200 years or so. This is when we were using fossil fuels, etc. Before that, it took Mother Nature over 10,000 years to go up that same amount. P.S. Sorry, This might not be 100% accurate, I heard it from my science teacher but I might not have the data right
Yes and No. but im leaning more to yes. We have taken over. We no longer work with nature and the environment, but we work against it, cause it harm, and ultimately we are its number 1 enemy because we decided we were better than everything else on this planet. We are better than the trees, the water, and the many other species of animals on this earth. Thats what we believe. People dont care if the earth is getting screwed over, because by the time the earth has a 'meltdown' we probably will be dead and gone by then anyways. We kill off so many different species its unbelievable. We are wasteful and greedy and we just dont care. If we started caring, changing, and understanding our roles and responsibilites, then i think both the earth AND us would be better off. We are driving towards a brick wall fast, and everyones arguing over who gets the front seat. It doesnt matter, because after the wall, theres nothing.
Slowly? In geological terms, no. We are not "slowly" destroying the earth. We are destroying it rather rapidly. Go back 200 years and think of what the earth had to offer. Hell, think of what just North American was like 200 years ago. 200 years. Not even the bat of an eyelash. The sad thing is, all the recycling and hybrid cars and toxic cleanup may be able to stop this chain reaction.
