How safe are shrooms?

I had been under the impression that shrooms were a pretty safe drug - a soft drug, like pot. However, a huge druggie I trust recently told me shrooms are really bad for you, that they put holes in your brain and such.
Who here can tell me the truth?

 

I have never heard of mushrooms causing holes in your brain. Ive done mushrooms many times and i don't have aything wrong with my brain. They can cause flashbacks but thats all. Mushrooms are hard to overdose or almost impossible because our stomaches would be able to eat a lethal dose for most types of mushrooms.

the biggest danger with mushies is misidentification. there are many poisinous mushrooms out there. know your source.

the answer is determined by your outlook on "safe". There are effects. Some consider these harmful. Others, myself included, consider this "damage" not damage at all, but rather extremely constructive.

 

Their not safe,I've heard stories of people spleens or some shit explode from taking em'.

My last trip left me fucked up,it wasn't even a bad trip.My bro took more than me that day and he's fine,nothin wrong with him.It's been a year since my last trip and my head still throbs and like bleeds n' shit.And I smoked some weed that was laced(I didn't know) with angle dust or somethin,that shit fucked me up too,it made my heart race so fast that it started hurting,and felt like somethin was squirting out of it.After the dust experience I can't smoke weed without having a bad time,like I get anxiety attacks n' shit.I smoke it sometimes when i'm drunk and not caring about shit.

Shrooms,acid and all that shit can kill you or fuck your life up forever.When I was a little kid I used to hang out with my neighbor while he was on acid.I didn't know what drugs were so I didn't understand what his other bro was telling me about him.He said yeah my bro is bad you don't wanna be like him.
The guy ended up going crazy I think.His bro told me that he was like kicking peoples ass at a bus stop.He tripped him self into Mortal Kombat(video game) he thought he had to fight everyone to get on the bus.

Theres another guy around here that took acid once and never came back down.He walks around talkin to himself.It's weird how he knows where he's going.Fools baked out..My cousin heard about a kid where he lives took acid and died,they say he currled up in a ball and said "i'm a potatoe chip,don't touch me or I'll crack" his girlfriend grabbed him to try and calm him down and he died.

 

If you don't know what you are doing they are not safe. Especially if they are the poisonous ones. You could take to many and have a bad trip and possibly do stupid things. You cannot drive (safely) while tripping whereas on weed you can. Also, having a bad trip can change your life (for bad or good depending on how you look at it and whether you learned anything).

Mushrooms are a very powerful substance and should not be taken with no prior knowlegde. You have to know your limits or you can really fuck yourself up.

They can be a LOT of FUUUNNN though.

ok you can't od on shrooms and the only person to have ever ODed on sid had over 30,000 g in his system, but man, what a trip, anyway, try shrooms and try out for urself, as far as the hole in the brain theory goes, i've heard it applied to almost every drug, most recently MDMA, now that certainly makes you wonder, ever heard of Big Brother?

I've heard the "holes in your brain" myth so many times, usually associated with LSD. Mushrooms arn't kind to your liver, that's it. But with moderate use thats not even an issue. I view mushrooms as much more of a spiritual tool than a recreational drug, and when used in that matter there should be no trouble.
