As Salamu Alikum Wa Rahmatu Allahi Wa Barakatu
Yeah, I know it is old, but I can't forget this parrot =), maybe some of you never heard about this parrot, he can recites some verses of the holy Quraan, his owner is a Pakistani, I wish he will sell it to me =(, however, the parrot reads the verses in Arabic with a Pakistani accent.
In this video (source: Al -Jazeera channel), you will find that he is reciting some verses from chapter 112 and 1,
The verses from chapter 112 are
In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
    1. Say: "He is Allâh, (the) One.
    2. "Allâh-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks).
    3. "He begets not, nor was He begotten;
    4. "And there is [till here he recited in the video, you now ''edit'' from the channel] none co-equal or comparable unto Him."
Then he recited these verses with few mistakes =) from chapter 1
    2. All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists).
    3. The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
    4. The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)
    5. You (Alone) we worship, andè [he forgot this =)] You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).
may Allah bless the parrot and his owner who was his teacher, Amen, and may I own it someday, =)
    Yours Sincerely,

    Cat Stevens

    wa aleykumu salam, nice parrot
I have a bird at home, or more correcktly, my little sister owns one. I personally thought it was a good idea with a bird, since it amazes you of the wonders of Allahs creations. The bad part though, is the fact that the poor thing is caged and you feel like shit watching it being improsed, hence some scholars said it was makrooh due to this. Anyhow, lets buy ants instead!

Yes he is, my dear brother =)

    =)

Oh! Then listen to this, I waged my war once upon those who have birds at their homes, I won the war by the way, still some of them are saying to me till today, you are the reason of all that! =) you know they miss their birds, if they truly love them then they should give them the gift which emphasizes their love it is freedom, why did Allah create wings for them then?
    Yours Sincerely,

    Agreed!
I know a brother who owns/owned a whole bunch of them, he even posses snakes and stuff. Scary...

They look soo sad being in their cage, wether or not its makrooh or not, its permissible due to the little boy who lost his bird (it died) and the prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) started comforting him.
I seriously want to buy ants though (ant farm), their quite special creatures... unfortunatly I cant find any antfarm here in sweden and I have no plans on shipping ants from the states.
    Any idea?

mmm, many people own birds but leaving them free with complete wings inside their homes, I read that Haddeth but I am not sure whether it was a small bird who couldn't fly probably or if it was a dove then you know dove return to home by himself, i mean whether you put the doves in a cage or not they return back and come to your hands =) Arabs are so interested in doves ...
They may have an idea in this forum Pets and Animals
    Best wishes =)

    Yours Sincerely,

    Cat Stevens
