Maybe you don't claim to be a republican, but from your posts here it is obvious that you hold conservative values. Maybe people are wrong to imply that you are republican, but I don't think anyoe can argue that you aren't conservative. Which is fine, my parents are pretty conservative, I consider them to be very intelligent people. We have some good political conversations too :p

Bloomberg isn't going to issue any permits for people to protest at the RNC convention. He's a Republican billionaire in the same boat as Bush.

It was really foolish for the RNC to pick NY for their convention. They thought Bush was going to be seen as a hero after the 911 attack and that he'd win the charm of all the New Yorkers. It was all a Hollywood dream, just like that big production when he was on that boat in San Diego harbor in his old national guard flight suit mimicking MacArthur and saying 'bring em on'.

Sorry if I perceived apathy where there is none. It's just that nothing ruffles my feathers more than apathy amongst people. I personally blame apathy for alot of our problems. Low voter turn outs etc. Also, there are so many folks these days who just accept the status quo with an attitude of "...it's not affecting me in my backyard, so why should I get involved...". I remember when the war protests were going on there was a few folks here who were pissed at the protester because they were an inconvenience to their daily commute. So many people talk the talk but are unwillingly to walk the walk..

So, like I said, sorry if I misperceived.

I am conservative WHEN it comes to economics and government. On the old forums, it was apparent that I supported gay marrige/civil unions by the state, legalization of marijuana, free speech, uncensored media, etc.

I was at the Medicinal Marijuana rally in Battery Park during late May. They had clearly stated that there will be no permits issued for group organization within the city during the RNC. Apparently there will be plenty of different impromtu gatherings as close as allowed too MSG, which I'm sure will be quite a distance away as well as in Central Park.

No offense to anyone wanting to protest the RNC, but I don't blame them one bit for not wanting large groups of people assembling around the center. Why doesn't somebody organize a permit legal protest in Washington?? I don't see how being at the RNC would make any more of an impact than D.C. As long as there are enough people protesting I think it would just as eye opening.

Being in Florida which puts me 1000 miles away from were the even will be held, I highly doubt that I will be able to attend. However, given the "security measures" put in place I should be pretty close to the "free speech" zone.

I am not a "liberal" or a "conservative"---your thinking is so linear. I have my own views on things.

Instead of making assumptions about my picture, you could just ask me in a civil manor and you would know I just think the picture is hillarious.

Well, I think protesting at the convention is a good idea. It doesn't have to be about trying to get it stopped, because obviously, that won't happen. It's more to voice your opinion. Let Bush know how you feel about him and his people. Who cares if you're 10 miles away, your voice will be heard.
