Someone correct me if I'm wrong, as I don't know anything about cultivating shrooms, but... Shrooms are not plants-they are a fungus. They do not need light. Fungi usually grow in moist, dark places...like the forest undergrowth where it's wet and the trees have lots of shade. So no, I'm pretty sure not.
No you don't need lights. You need spores and something they wanna grow in, but I never grew mushrooms so the details I don't know.
don't listen to these people--they're wrong. mushrooms will not grow without light. they require light for fruiting, which is the process by which the fungus mycelium creates edible sprouted mushrooms. only during the incubation phase do they need absolute darkness. without light, however, mushrooms do not happen. they also really like full spectrum light (the sun) and especially the blue end of the spectrum.
i got some 26 watt florsecnts that go in regular sockets, would those work, they seem to work for weed.
Those will work fine We use an 11watt screw in flouresent bulb to pin and never have had a problem Az
