Just wondering if there's any other Reiki practitioners out here to connect with. Or for that matter, anyone else interested in this form of energy therapy. I was attuned to Reiki Levels I and II about 2 weeks ago and have been loving this new path.

Hope to talk to some of you kind folks soon! ~Namaste~

wow, I can't believe this is the first reiki thread I've seen on here!

I am not a practitioner, I havne't even experienced it myself..not yet anyway. I have seen it being done and heard quite a lot of amazing stuff about it. I am so interested in it..I'm hoping to experience it myself sometime hopefullly soon..
How did you get into it? what do you think about newbies who have never experienced it and want to?? is it too easy to take a class? would it be weird to ask a stranger in an office to do it?? maybe I just need to start asking around or something..but anyway, I believe it could be a really great thing for me to discover..how is it for you?

A response...I'm amazed! LOL I'll give you a little background on me before I answer all your questions. I met a new friend back in October of last year who had been practicing Reiki for a few months. After my initial treatment from him, I knew it would be an adventure! So much karmic and emotional release. We became best of friends (we're as close as brothers today) and still continue to work together with group meditations, etc. Anyway, he invited me to a sweat lodge at his Reiki Master's farm, and the adventure continued. Besides my new friend, I then developed a close connection to this Master. Then the vivid dreams started in which I found myself performing healing sessions on countless numbers of people. Once the dreams started, I knew what I had to do. With the money I received from my family for the Christmas holiday, I contacted my friend's Reiki Master & went for my training. And every day so far has been a learning experience...uplifting, enlightening and absolutely amazing! I've left out quite a bit of the story though, just to stick to the basic facts.

For newbies: If you haven't experienced Reiki before, I'm sure you'll be truly amazed by what it can do for you. It's important to find a practitioner who resonates with you. As with western medicine, there are many practitioners out there with incorrect intentions. The concern is more to make money than actually to facilitate the flow of healing energy. Use your intuition and don't just pick a practitioner at random. If your area has a holistic and/or psychic fair coming up, check it out as there may be a few Reiki practitioners in attendance. Feel them out and see what happens. Also, "payment" for a Reiki treatment, in my opinion, should be based on an equal exchange of energy...not just in the form of "green energy" aka $$$. This exchange can be in the form of a hug, crafts, artwork, food, etc.

Basically, anyone can learn to facilitate healing through Reiki since the energy channeled is the same energy that keeps us all alive. This is another matter of "shopping around" for a Master Teacher who resonates with you. I wouldn't just pick one at random until you are sure of the person's intent. Prices for the Level I, II and Master attunements and classes vary all over the world, as well as the length of each class. I've read that some classes are taught over a series of weekends, some in just a few days. As luck would have it, I was trained in a one-on-one session with my Master which lasted about 4 hours. Again, this all depends on the Master. I would also beware of anyone who claims to do "distant attunements" (where you're not actually in the presence of the Master Teacher).

Hopefully I was able to answer some of your questions. If you think Reiki is right for you, then it definitely will be. Try receiving a treatment or two first. After a while your intuition will tell you if you are meant to be a practitioner too. Either way, best of luck on your quest and keep in touch. ~Namaste~

It's true that the more you work with the energy, the stronger it will get. Reiki will flow as long as you have the right intent. Just "get out of the way" and allow it to happen. You may not think it's working sometimes, but it really is.
