Ok.... anybody that pays and then complains is just flat retarded......don't do it if you're going to whine about it.

That's how I was raised too, which is why I do it. It's just that I'm not so quick to do it from the jump. Like I said, Indiana is gold-digger central.

Yeah when I go out with a guy and he doesn't hold the door for me I definitely notice it. Don't complain, but .., notice.., it. It definitely doesn't make a good 1st impression. :p

A lot of guys I know (who don't have gfs, incidentally) who don't do those little chivalrous gestures are mostly too embarrassed, I reckon. Seems a lot of guys figure girls will think they're cheesy or lame if they pull out your chair or open your car door for you, etc. But actually, I can't think of any girl who'd be unappreciative.

    My $0.02.... :p

I love that song... I know I should hate it, but I love it

erm, anyways.... S'toon is actually pretty bad for gold-diggers too I think. A lot of chicks say weird things about their guys, like "his family is rich too, it's great!" or base whether or not to date someone on their car (whereas my guy is currently without one, though probly getting one shortly)

I don't like the chair pulling out. I will freely admit that. I usually don't bother pulling out the chair, just wiggle into the chair without moving it around. Pulling it out means I have to scoot it back forwards again

Door opening... it's cute, but I try to open doors for him too. I mean, it's a courteous nice thing to do and it's easy as pie to reciprocate with

I'm a big door guy. I don't do the chair thing because I'm clumsy and slam her knees against the table or something. I'll take her coat etc etc.

I think a big part of the reason guys don't do a lot of things like that any more is because of this "womens independance" movement. I know girls that get offended if you get their door.....I've had a girl tell me, "Ummm... I can open my own door you know". I still do it because I know it's not all that often. I think most guys want to show the girl they look at her as an equal and in the process forget she still wants attention, she just doesn't want to be looked down upon.

For the most part I'm fairly old fashioned when it comes to relationships, but a lot of guys are scared to be that way because in a sense taking it too deep can make one look sexist.

hah well I don't need one at all. In fact I am single right now and have choosen my mom as my valentine and have date lined up tommorow and Wed instead. I can buy my own things with my enormous debt lol and in less it's been a very long like years long living togetther relationship I won't let the guy take me shopping. That's apparently the new hip thing down here for older guys to do is to take their dates clothes shopping and I'm just like uhm no how about not. I guess they're used to dating gold diggers or maybe they want sex who knows...but I find it weird. What ever happened to picking up something small fromt he tiffany's silver line...whatever happened to pure chivalry and not sugar daddies.

That's cool... I actually do that too. Lots of guys will just grab the door above your hand though and still say, you first. It's cute. It's not even a strength thing anymore, it's just cute and symbolic... wanting to do good by your best girl, ya know....:)

yeah, the door thing is definitely cute. I do it for my galpals a lot too, because it's just so cute and courteous. I actually get grumpy about people not holdign the door open a little extra when someone is behind them (I don't mean stepping aside to let htem go first, I mean just keeping the door from swinging totally closed)

Kissing the back of the hand is totally adorable too

If a guy doesn't open the door I will inform him that it is customary to do if he still doesn't get it it's oiver. I don't like my chair being pulled out unless the maitre de(sp?) is gonna do it and then I do just because I don't want anyone else touching me besides who I'm with but in general I like to do my own chair as it can be akward.

HAHA....., yeah in that case you're probably safer leaving her to her own pushing-in..... ;)
What I was referring to though was pulling her chair out for her and just waiting a second until she sits down. Not formal or anything, just simple and ever-so-slightly chivalrous. :p

See, that's what I'm talking about. It's very apparent that I have money. Now not having a license has given me good insight as to who wants me for my ride/money because they think I don't have one even though I've got a damn good one. Seriously though if I ever over heard my girl say those words, I'd put her out on the spot.

I've spent more money on the girl I'm dating since we've met than I've made at my job in the past 2 months, but she's never asked me for a thing and when I don't carry my money she picks up everything. She lives 45 minutes away and will come pick me up and take me 5 minutes from my house, take me to her job which is by her house, then bring me back so I can see her at work, and never ask for a thing if I tell her I'm not trying to spend any money. It's definitely not "equal", but she holds her own. That's what I like
