Ok I was thinking about cannabis plant and it effects, and the use in medicine... Is it possible to engineer a new molecule out of THC, so it slows down you nerves system (guessing this well dull the pain?)... Would that work, or is this just another pipe dream. Also what are some ways to stop pain...
It's called a depressent. Like alcohol. Painkillers act differently, slowing down botht he nervous system & parts of the brain. The best ways tos top pain are non-opiate analgesics. Unfortunatly, there aren't many, and they tend to be weaker than opiates.
Damn... But do you think its possible to create a painkiller, or is that idea deserve to go into the trash?
there actually is a pilll (im 95% sure, but im not totoally sure) thats active ingredient is THC.. its one of the arguments against med mj, cause there are medicines wiht THC already in em
I know about that... But im saying that is possible to change the THC molecule in way that it can reduce pain. Just like how they can change the stuff in opuim into morphine (or extract), heroin, and other drugs...
No doubt... currently, there is a variation on THC called PROTONIX that is a miricle drug for stomach problems. many miricles are at hand...
Ok, look at the structure of THC, then look at the structure of "Protonix". Tell me how the protonix structure is a "variation" on THC...
Marinol is a Synthetic THC drug. One orange tablet (gel) is the same as smoking/eating a 1/8th of medical grade cannabis. (I'm 99% sure)
Why would someone even want to make a pill like that? THC really isn't used for pain relief, its usually used for stomach problems.
Just because two drugs do the same thing and produce certain metabolites (i'm assuming your information is correct, i'm not gonna waste time to check) does not mean that one is made from the other...
I never said such. Learn to read. LSD can be made without Lysergic acid... Drugs are catergorized by classes and actions. And protonix test positive as THC in a piss test- now what do you know of organic chemistry?
I can guarantee i know more of organic chemistry than you. The girl asked if people could change the THC molecule to make it help for various other medical conditions, and you said yes, protonix is "a variation on THC" ...read your own words.
I agree trippedelia, execpt us, we can be the bestest friends in all the land and SHUT UP, nobody honestly cares if the molucule of THC can be binded/modified to have more uses in the medical field, you smoke the Cannabis plant and it does you just fine, stop medeling in natures affairs.. Assholes..
not necessarily. dronabinol has already been used for pain in people who are resistant to traditional opiates, relieving nausea is merely a side-effect. understand that cannabinoid receptors operate, to some extent, in correlation to opioid receptors, by facilitating endogenous anandamide and endorphin production
difference is that gecko answered what the person was -actually- asking as opposed to being constricted by the basic language you seem to be interpreting. on that note, there are many variations of THC that can be made in a lab. however cannabinoids do not releive pain by depressing the CNS, like opiates do. cannabinoids unlink constant sensations from stringing together in the form of pain. it deals with interpretation of incoming signals. things can still hurt pretty bad when stoned, but it might drift by practically unnoticed the second it is gone. consant pain doesnt build up. each pain is felt as if its simply hurting at that moment and not chronically. so no, a special cannabinoid could not be produced purely for analgesic qualities. but there are cannabinoids that are ridiculously stronger than that in weed, theyd probably just get you real stoned
