So, I may be going to the USA for 10 moths.. I would stay with some family. And I am wondering.. Are there lots of vegetarian families in the USA? I know it's a stupid question.. but. ya know, living with a vegetarian family would be much easier for me.. just don't know if I have chance to find some. There are not many vegetarians in the Czech Republic.. to be honnest, I know one by far, except for myself. hehe, I hope someone answers me peace E.
Unfortunately, vegetarian families are just as slim in America as in the Czech Republic. But, you definitely still have a chance to find a family to live with that is vegetarian. Generally, people are vegetarian, not families.
Even if you don't end upwith a veg family, in most/all urban areas there are great organic stores that sell vegitarian food thats delicious
I'm guessing that your are in a student exchange program. If so, can you make a request or at least add something to the personal info your host family gets before you leave?
Thank you for answers Mike : Yeah, i am going write this into my application. I just didn't know if I have a big chance to find such family...
California- best chance of a full veg family. You'll definitely be able to find a family with at least one vegetarian.
The majority of the members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church are vegetarians. If you stay with a Seventh-day Adventist family its a pretty safe bet that they will be vegetarians. SDA's are usually pretty cool and are quite different from your typical christian right wingnut fundie types. My father is a Seventh-day Adventist Pastor and is Democrat and has been a vegetarian for over 40 years! He's pushing 61 and barely looks a day over 50. I think that says alot for a vegetarian diet. Basically if where there are Seventh-day Adventists you'll usually find vegetarians.
