what are some natural things i can do to get earwax out of my ear? I've lost hearing because there's so much but i'm really scared to get it take n out at the doctor's, i was told that i need it vacuumed out with a special little machine rather than irrigated out, becasue my eardrum was perforated. My ears have always been sensitive to cold, wind and popping, and everything makes them sore. There's no way it's not gonna hurt me. I cant see myself being cooperative either. Wish they could just put me out.

i just want to get it out on my own somehow...
    help, friends!

Ear candles. YOu can get them at any health food store, you burn one end and stick the other end in your ear, it vacuums out your ear painlessly.

I think you can even get them at GNC

Yeah earcandles or you can get these kind of ear-drops and they break up the wax so that it comes out on its own. Just don't use Q-tips. You can get the drops at any pharmacy or health store. I usually see candles at health food shops, etc.

A lot of people on here seem to be pro-candling, but I've personally heard mixed reviews as to how well they really work. Some people swear by the method, and some say it just irritated them. I don't know. I've used the drops though, and they work quite well.

    Good luck!

I have never seen ear candles work. An old auaintence who wrote edited a natural health magazine use to rail against ear candles saying that they were completely bogus. I have had problems throughout my life with wax. I use a waterpic with very warm water. Probably not good for a perforated drum.

best wishes for you, i know how this kind of thing feels.

I have heard that also Jim. It might be a waste of money. But at the same time there are a lot of people that I know who swear by them, so.... maybe it's worth a shot, just to see how they work for you.

I don't think ear candles are something just anyone would want to use - they might require a decent buildup to really work. In order for them to be really effective, I've been told you need to rest your head totally on the side, it might even help if you have a helper with you. My grandpa used to just lay his head on a pillow on the table and grandma would hold the candle there and burn it down to the last inch or so. it always worked for them - no complaints!

the ear specialist said the candles are completely useless and a major scam. The wax that you find inside is NOT earwax, it is wax from the candle itself.i dont like sticking things in my ears so i wouldnt even attempt it anyways. I am using Murine eardrops right now to soften and loosen the wax, but is actually going to come out on it's own?

btw hummblebee your dreads are amazing!

I've heard the same from an audiologist about the candles.

And Q-Tips, if poked too far back can fuck up your ears and make them sore. Audiologist don't recomend Q-Tips either. Basically, don't stick anything smaller than your elbow in your ear.

Any time I've gotten my ears cleaned at a clinic, they blast warm water into my ear and the wax comes out. I actually kind of enjoy it.

All this talk about ear wax is reminding me that I should probably get rid the gunk I've got in mine.
