Disco Biscuits Keller Williams Robert Randolph and the Family Band Les Claypool Bela Fleck and the Flecktones Yonder Mountain String Band (these are just the headliners coming to wakarusa, theres dozens of others such as benevento russo duo, lotus, lots of other electronic bands, etc.) lineup looks to be the best of any (in my opinion). Well see some les claypools bucket of bernie brains as well because bernie worrell and buckethead have slots at wakarusa as well. ALL WE NEED IS BRAIN. Its gonna be sick man, Joe Russo and the Disco Biscuits might jam together (they have a side band called Lavernaeus Cool...they kick ass) WAKA 06 baby! lol
Check out Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band. Ain't no Party like a Chubby Party 'cause the Chubby party don't stop!!!
Yeah I plan to go to Wakarusa this year. Killer line-up, and plus I haveheard so many great things about this festival. So....I'm down.
hey madcrappie! long time huh? I was lookin at the bonnaroo line up but I think wakarusa is much better... I dunno man.. I'm living in New York now though so I may end up just staying with fests that are closer to home on the east coast.. bah. if I do end up goin though.. maybe we'll run into each other.
I'm definitely gonna go, hopefully getting my tickets tonight. Has anyone who's been there before played the disc golf course there? I'm wondering if it's a decent course. Hopefully there wont be huge lines to play either. Anyway I'm sure it'll be better than bonnaroo so I cant wait!
We were considering that, but I think we're gonna drive over to yellowstone afterwards and camp and frolf along the way. Cant Wait!
ha. I thought of you when I saw that michael franti was added to wakarusa this year.... odd, huh? that would be cool if you did come to rusa. I dont know if Ill be there or not..... I just cant afford to take off a whole weekend..... I may try one night..
I got my ticket last week. If anyone else is goin that wants to hang out at the fest lemme know im down... Happy Trails -Jacob Fred
I'm right there with you Psychadelic Toker! Waka->B'roo->HSMF and where ever else the biscuits go. I got my tix for those three so far. Can't wait for a summer of tDB.
hey.... i'll definitely be hittin up wakasura, maybe bonnaroo... but the kyds im traveling with dont really wanna hit that up. so far our summer looks like summercamp>wakasura>??bonnaroo??>rainbownationals and whatever else. sooooo ready for the summer to start!
you live too close not to go! go for me! party and then tell me all about! i want to go so bad. but i can't...god damn school.
That sounds like one helluva lineup. Wakarusa is gonna be a guarenteed great time from the looks of the limeup. And the atmosphere is always great. Summercamp would also be a great one im sure youll have a blast there. Hope to see you in Lawrence! Happy Trails...
Wakarusa for sure this year is better than Bonnaroo. The line-up for Bonnaroo just isn't what it was 5 years ago when it first opened up, and I think wakarusa makes up for that with who is playing this year. Robert Randolph and Disco Biscuits? Fuck yea ill be there
Disco Biscuits and Robert Randolph are at bonnaroo too along with a shit ton of more bands than waka. This arguement is so repetitive THE BONNAROO LINE-UP HAS ALMOST ALL THE SAME SMALL ACTS WHICH MAKE UP WAKA AND A TON MORE OF LARGE ACTS. Look at the line-ups.. besides Yonder.. Fleck is at both, Bisco, RRFB, etc. not to mention bonnaroo has oysterhead, umphreys, radiohead, sasha, Phil Lesh, beck, moe., les claypool, damien marley, mike gordon, dr john, atmosphere, medeski martin and wood, soulive and toubab krewe. Also with 10KLF line-up Wakarusa is by far the weakest festival line-up minus All Good but All Good has UM, The Biscuits, Ween, Black Crowes, The Bridge, and a few more.
i personally think Bonnaroo doesnt have nearly as good of a lineup as waka. But hey, thats just one mans opinion. Theres only a few bands that i would actually make the drive down to Tennessee for, whereas theres about a couple dozen at rusa. I dunno, i guess its the smaller venue and less hype at waka that makes it a really cool "secret" so to speak. But oh well... --everyone has their own tastes of music, but everyone that i know seems to be absolutely thrilled about the waka lineup. Les claypool, Benevento Russo, Lotus, Pnuma, Bernie Worrell, etc. a lot of the "smaller" bands at waka are some of my faves so im happy. Plus, with the disco biscuits and benevento russo there, we might get to see some disco side project action with joe russo on drums (check out Lavernaues Cool, disco biscuits, russo and a couple dudes from Brothers Past). And also les with bernie worrell and buckethead=les claypool side project action. Doesent get much better than that in my eyes..... Wassup lovehermadly! I like that Bob quote on your sig...nice.
I used to live in Lawrence. I hear it's going to be a wonderful show this year. I can't go but I do intend on going to Bonnaroo, if for no other reason than my local atmosphere, doughty, and Petty.
I think L.Cool is Marc Brownstein, Jamie Shields (The New Deal?), and Joe Russo. But I think both festivals are excellent I just hate seeing people say bonnaroo's line-up isnt up to the same level as Waka when both line-ups are so far beyond my expectations. I'm hoping for a secret Electron set at Waka: Joe Russo, Tom Hamilton, Marc Browstein and Aron Magner. That would make Waka better than b'roo in my opinion but that doesnt mean b'roo's line-up isnt amazing it just mean Waka has a collaboration that is very rare.
We should have a hipforums meet up at either festival or high seirra or all good! Those and a rainbow gathering + Guatemala in august is my summer. I'm excited.
